I had a huge row once in the Comet store dude to lack of service - there are so many other options these days - I think they know that and dont seem to care.0

Not like the good old Alan sugar days - (will make sense if you've read his book!)0

well, im back to give for an update.
Has this problem been resolved - NO
After much chasing, many phone calls to many different who were all equally unhelpful and being given the complete run around I have finally managed to get somewhere but am still awaiting for the cheque to come through to cover the floor.
The delay in all this was due to the fact that although i had sent the quotes off several times to the name and address given to me by a so called manager who was dealing with it, it was in fact completley the wrong person and instead of this person sending the quotes back or sending a letter explaining this or even pointing me in the right direction i had to continue to chase them. On chasing them they denied all knowledge of it, i left messages for people to call me back, email me etc. and no one contacted me.
It appears to me that I was deliveratly misled in order to delay or avoid a payout. In the meantime the floor had only got worse and worse and it proved pretty enbarassing come xmas with friends and family wanting to visit as the kitchen was pretty muc a no go area.
Upon eventually managing to squeeze some sort of sense out of this bunch of incompetents i eventually got them to refer me to the correct dept. and get the quotes to them.
They then in turn did and to their credit actually deal with this part of the process quite quickly as i recieved a letter from their insurance saying they now have the quotes.
I have since recieved a letter stating that they accept full liablilty for the incident and now i am just waiting for the cheque to come through, seems they haven't been as quick to get the cheque out but i am now waiting patiently and will post back once i have it.
And since all this has happened comet have the cheek to send me a letter saying that the manufacturers warranty is due to run out and do i want to take out one with them. Its almost laughable, a letter of appology or some sort of good will gesture would have been more appropriate.0 -
Just a moan about an 'offer'. Ferguson DVR is on special with £2.13 off. This just happens to be the VAT that it would have increased by on January 4th. I wonder for how long it really was £102.12? http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Freeview+-freesat-Recorders/buy-FERGUSON-F20320DTR-Freeview+-freesat-Recorder/6867190

Oh comet, if only everyone who worked for you was as good as Phil W in customer care...
I had my own tale of woe with comet trying to get a replacement part, but it appears i lucked out and contacted the only capable member of staff they have!
Apparently my part is on its way to me now, so stay tuned lol0 -
On this thread they won't issue a cheque. On a seperate thread they won't honour an extended warranty for a laptop. Anyone know if they are in financial difficulties and desperately trying to avoid making payments?0

Wow pretty bad, £5,000,000 in the red. Even Dixons Retail had problems with the snow and stuff but at least they are on course to make at least £100,000,000 profit. Maybe Kesa will sell Comet to Best Buy.0 -
On a seperate thread they won't honour an extended warranty for a laptop.
Well thats untrue. It has now transpired that the person on the other thread did not purchase the warranty or laptop, and Comet will only deal with the purchasor of the product. Since this, the OP has not reposted.Best Regards

I remember when my Nana's TV remote broke. The TV was still within warranty but Comet refused to fix the remote because it "wasn't actually part of the television set"
Oh we got it sorted in the end. Just another classic case of a first line of defense fob off :rotfl:0 -
Dear OP.
I wouldn't listen to any of the posters here saying your partners injury was down to himself, as it was a result of Comet selling you a faulty product.
I've got a situation with Comet that has been ongoing for 3 months now. I've since threatened court action and they've suddenly become very communicative.
Don't think you're alone in this. The best advice I give you is remain calm, don't give up and if worst comes to worst threaten to take them to a small claims court.
The worst thing for them is bad publicity so you can even threaten to go the papers.0
