Laptop Advice Please

Afternoon
I have a discount code for VERY and I need a new laptop so I thought I may as well take advantage of their "buy now, pay later" offer too.
I need a laptop to browse the web, create simple spreadsheets and word docs and if at all possible I'd like to start playing the Sims again. I have only ever played it on a console so not too sure what I am looking for in a laptop.
Would you be so kind to look up the laptops on the Very website and tell me which you think would be suitable for my requirements? I know this is extremley cheeky but I honestly wouldn't know where to start so can't even give you a short list. My top end budget is £500. Could stretch to £600 but would rather spend this extra money on a printer to be honest.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Even with a discount code, it could end up being VERY expensive - bnpl = debt.
Do you have a laptop/PC already, if so, what's wrong with it?!!

Would you say they are overpriced on there then? Or just an attempt at humour??:A

I have an E-system laptop which is pretty much tired and old now. The battery and charger gets very hot and the fan is on constantly which is very annoying as the OH can't hear the TV over the sound of it, it really is that loud. The grate on the bottom on the laptop is coming off and some of my keys are no longer working after a spillage. I have put up with it like this for a quite a few months now but it really is getting irritating with the keys being broken.:A

Oh and it's interest free BNPL so I'll just put the money aside each month into my ISA and then pay it off.:A

most if not all things from catalogue companies are overpriced - more so if you miss a payment, compare the prices with amazon.co.uk.
If you have the cash, buy it elsewhere, if you have other interest bearing debts, putting money into an isa is costing you interest.
The fan coming on could be a software problem, (post a hijackthis log), or dust/poor ventilation, the keyboard may be fixable by cleaning, or replacement. If you are predominantly running it on mains, take the battery out.!!

Closed, I really do appreciate your advice, especially seen as though this is primarily a money saving site. If you have any technical advice too based on my original spec, I'd love to hear it. I have taken your original advice on board. Can you post a link to the best Hijackthis please? Google brings up several places but don't know which is reputable.:A

post a hijackthis log

Go into task manager (ctl alt del), click on the performance tab, post the commit charge total, commit charge peak, and physical memory total figures
clean out the vents if they are dusty, and use on a flat surface without the battery in.!!

Erm, right, I said £500 was my top end budget. I'd love to get something for cheaper if it fills my critera. As I said, I don't really know about these things.
Is there an old fashioned way of getting into Task Manager? My Del button is one of the victims of the spill!!:A

Have you been saving during those few months? If you can't afford it, buy something which you can afford. You can get a laptop for as little as £230.
Seriously who is going to advise you to get into debt by buying an overpriced laptop on a money saving website? What are you thinking?Forget about VERY. You'll pay too much for what you need.
E-machines eh? I can understand your frustration. Can you post the exact model number?0 -
That's strange! Your post was above mine a minute ago! lol!! It's 3087
And in answer to your original question, yep, been saving but for intensive driving lessons. £630 lighter but I hope to pass so it will be worth it.:A
