British workers
Comments

Has the British propensity to being the larda***s of Europe meant that our workers are at a competitive disadvantage in this global labour market. The same shipping line is employing highly skilled Filipino seamen for a fraction of the cost. The Filipinos are increasingly becoming the workhorses of the global shipping industry.
These people have to justify their insatiable greed for dirt cheap labour somehow. Rather than telling the truth that they're too greedy to pay the going rate, they lie and say British workers don't want to work or are too fat or too tattooed etc.
If British workers are too fat to be employed by him, why doesn't he just recruit Germans or Swedes or Greeks? No, he wants Filipinos 'cos they're cheap.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -
Actually the weight isn't the issue the tattoos are and have always been.
If you want to have a tattoo then use your common sense and have it where no one can see it if you are dressed in professional clothes.
That includes not having tattoos on your legs, ankles or feet if you are prone to showing them off in hot weather.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
So now you're saying all fat people are BNP supporters.
.
Did I say that Malcolm? I don't think I did.
I think I said I would prefer to employ a lithe Filipina over a tattoo'd BNPer, anyday. It was a simple statement of fact - a personal preference, if you like.
I could be wrong though - I'll double check my former post, just in case.
I have no idea how fat people vote. It's not something I care to think about, to be honest. I believe Eric Pickles is rather chubby, and suspect he votes conservative. The late and great Mr Cyril Smith would, I suspect, have voted Liberal, but I can't be sure.0 -

By implication, you did. You changed fat and covered in tattoes, to BNP supporter and tattoed.
Otherwise, where did BNP supporter come into it(?), it certainly wasn't being discussed.
I rest my case...0 -

What's your point?
Is there something wrong with that?
We now operate in a global marketplace. That includes labour. Cheap overseas labour helps us buy our cheap toys and gadgets and clothes. It's the way the world is.
If British workers want to compete, then I guess they are going to have to get more marketable, be that in terms of adding more value to justify their higher costs, or reducing their cost.
It's that simple at the end of the day.0 -

Oh. Rightio. To be candid, as cases go to be rested, it's not that compelling and i rather suspect it might be thrown out as being unproven. But that's another issue altogether.
And here was me thinking it was you who made some connection between being fat and being a BNP supporter, not me.
How confusing this all is.0 -

Generally agree with this, aside from to say that most people in the Philippines speak English as an equal first language. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

You once would struggle to find a seaman without a tattoo. It was sailors who spread the practice to the west.0 -
I rather suspect you wouldnt have found many obese seamen, though.
I'm reading Moby !!!!!! at the moment. Not a porker in the whole book, apart from the whale himself of course.0 -

Avoiding the question (regarding where you got BNP supporter from) and finishing with lines like this (How confusing this all is.) can lead to just one simple truth...
You are Graham Devon. :eek:0
