Well weve done it - we had an appointment with C&G this morning - and 2 hours later we walked out after having paid the £350 survey fee. We chose the 5.09 fixed rate deal and are so pleased weve done it now. We should hear back within the next 10 days whether the offer is in place. They were saying they are one of the only banks that does everything at the branch, including arranging valuations etc so the application process is quicker as they havent got to keep sending the docs to head office for other people to do and then pass over to someone else etc etc etc.

Anyhow - weve done it now....!!

I have to do loads in the branch as the bank I work at - have my files checked - I keep all originals in branch but do have to fax to a head office number - not C&G

I did not have to pay for a survey, but mine was a re mortgage. I take it that yours is for a house move ?

Yes it was the House Move. Wonder why they do these incentives for Remortgage and not house purchase?? Lots of banks only give free surveys for remortgages. Yet sureley its the same work involved?
So if you had a remortgage and you went into the Branch...you mustve been able to enter "win a £1000 a day" competition....which was only open to Remortgage customers!! :-(

They can only issue the formal mortgage offer letter once the valuation has been received by C&G and assessed.

I would wait until the end of the week, but hopefully you will hear something before then.

I think your expectations are a little high in relation to timescales - although I i know how keen you will be to get your own place:j
