I thought EON were supposed to be cheap suppliers?

SInce I moved in a house in March I have had three bills the last one yesterday was £99 double the last two.

I had heating on when I moved into the house in March as it was pretty cold but tried to wait until 6 at night to switch it on and its pretty new central heating so then I have a mocrowave for cheap food not used the oven much apart from my brother when he comes here using the oven and the bill was fifty odd pounds.
Second bill was near same I tried to have three baths a week and not use oven much.

So how can EON send a bill double the last two when I hardly use the oven and have three odd baths a week double that if my brother comes for three weeks?

I am struggling in debt as it is being unemployed and when a bill comes in like this when you tried to save it really gets to you.

Hi Pinktooth - Your post is a bit short on the details of your heating system, but I guess that it is all electric with some type of Day/Night rate meter - ECO7 ?
I'm afraid that all these systems are expensive, but if you post the details of yours I'm sure you will get good advice on managing it.

    Not on any plan.

A new system should be pretty economical yes?
Its a Potterton Promax combi HE plus

I just turn the thermostat up to 20 when I needed the heating then turned it off below 10 as the boiler has pretty complcated settings and I found it easier to just turn the thermostat and the head builder even said its easier to do that.

Most suppliers, including EoN do have cheap tariffs, however they also have the more expensive ones like their Standard one. So make sure you are on their cheapest one and are getting all of the discounts for dual fuel and direct debit payment.
You are obviously talking about gas here. You have not mentioned any timescale for these bills but 3 since March is quite a lot.
Could it be that the first 2 were based on estimated (low) readings and now the latest one has used an accurate reading and is a catch up bill, therefore being higher.
  • Two months max the bills looks like they send every two months

Did you check if the first 2 were based on estimated readings, ie with an E after the reading?
  • I dont know if they are estimated or not.
I told them the reading when I moved in

Look on the bills, they willstate the readings the bills wer based on, an E after the reading means it was estimated, an A means an actual reading by a meter reader, and a C means areading submitted by you.
Sometimes the bill may also say " based on actual Readings"
  • OK I will look thanks but I dont see why they should estimate if I gve them a reading firsthand?
  • IF these are accurate that means my yearly bills will be around £700 as when winter comes I hate to think when heating has to be kept on.
I might have to change I am in Warwickshire

Yes but that would only be for the start reading, it could be the end readings of the bills were estimated.
