OF course LOL unless there are psychics working there.0 -
Another annoying thing about EON is that if you dont pay wihin a week they send a freakin red letter reminder within that week.0

That's strange, on my mum's bills (she pays every quarter when she gets it- refuses direct debit) it says that she has 14 days to pay from the date on the bill to continue with her 3% discount. Are you sure it's not just taking a few days for the bill to get to you and it is actually more than 2 weeks since they actually posted it?0
-
Hi Pinktooth - Sorry for my assumption in my first post that it was Elec that was the problem, but now we know it's the Gas.
You have been billed app. £200 since March - Seems high, but whether or not this is good or depends on the 'House' - 1, 2 or 3 Bed? Double Glazed? Well insulated? Terraced? Semi? Detached?
It's good that you know your Start reading, so if you can read the meter now and post it here with the Start reading, myself and others will have something solid to work on - Also when you look at the meter, on the front it will marked either M3, or Ft3,so please post which it is along with the type of house.0 -
This is a new build house. 3 bed semi and of course new windows but not that good quality I dont think
Apparently this bill is 3 months and they say on bill it was read by them.
But as I say I have not had heating on much I use the new cooker about two times a week apart from when brother comes back from working abroad which is about three weeks stay within this three months. I use the new microwave about four times a week to heat my daily prepack lunch about 10 minutes to cook each time
I dont have a TV as Iam always on the internet with my laptop and electric for that is not that much is it?
So I dont know if its expensive or whether I should change as thats 3 bills now since March when I moved in first two bills were 54 pounds and 60 because going on the bills its goin gto be 6 bills a year from EON0 -
I had a similer thing with EON. my payments shot up even though it was summer. when I called and asked they had put up the payments in the summer to compensate for the winter payments as I was on direct debit and paying monthly. This was so the bill wouldnt be changing constantly and would be a regular price each month. They said because I hadnt been with EON for long they had estimated what the winter payments would be and adjusted my payments to match. I did mange to get the bill dropped and it dropped again once it had been running for a bit and they could work out what I was actually running.
I would call them up and ask them why the bill is so high; also if you dont know what plan you are on check their website and change to a cheaper plan. they have discount plans online and these would drop the payments on your bill.0 -

If you are not paying by Direct Debit monthly then you are paying well over the odds for your fuel. You really need to set up a direct debit with them - you will benefit from a good discount of around 20-25% if you do and change to a better tariff - i.e. your bill would only have been about £75, not £99.0 -
Hi Pinktooth,
So sorry for such a late reply, but I hope I can help you a bit
There is already some good info given here, I just wanted to clarify a few points.
You already have a good start that you have taken the meter reading when you moved in, this means that you can be billed accurately for the energy that you have used,
I would contact E.ON and ensure they have an up to date reading.
You will also need to check the tariff that you are on, it may be that you are just paying the standard prices.
Ask for a comparison with other tariffs to see what would be best for you, some criteria does need to be meet for some of the tariffs, ie; paying by Monthly Direct Debit and managing your account online.
You can also ask E.ON for your usage to see when the energy is used, this can help you cut down and save money. Once you have your usage you can pop this on to a comparison site to see how we measure up.
Also go onto the interactive house and top tips on the eon website.
Hope this helps you a bit, if I can provide any further info, just shout up.

Do you have an immersion water heater - that might be the problem?
There will be a switch by your boiler - in my experience (we used to have one) it is best to leave it off, then just switch it on when you know you will need hot water.0 -
I'm currently renting a flat, and have been here since mid-june.
I'm with Heatwise-E.ON.
I have just had my quarterly bill sent to me today from 1st July to 28th September and it has cost me a whooping £98.00.
It says i have used 700kWh!! Atleast £60.00 worth of my bill has been used during daytime. The most weird thing is, im NEVER home during daytime. Im at work from 9am-5.30pm. I do not know what could possibly use up my electricity while im at home. At night time the electricity is used less, so it says on my bill.
Could someone please help me, as i cant seem to get my head around this. I cant seem to think what is pulling my electricity so much during the day!?
Are there particular times during the day where the electricity is cheaper? Is there a particular switch i should be turning off? I have storage heaters, but they don't come on (well they shouldn't do!)
Help!!!
Hi nbala,
I think the best thing to do would be to contact E.ON and ask to go through the bill and the times that the prices change during the day.
E.ON have an energy efficiency department, they would probably be the best people to talk to, they will also be able to advise you on saving energy.
They will want to know what sort of heating and appliances you have, so have a list ready.
As you have a Heatwise meter, you are restricted to a certain set of prices, so a tariff change in this instance is not possible.
Just over £30 per month for an all electric property is actually good.
You can contact me through the email address in my profile page and I can give you the number to call.
