  • Me too, with partner for over 20 years, love dancing/clubbing, would love a group of girlies to go out, keep looking for never seem to find them. partner not interested.

However have a few links that might be of interest:

Google SPICEUK, they have groups around the country lots of different things to do, not a dating site, you can join as a couple or single.

    Nottingham, leicester, derby areas
    Google ladiesnightoutclub.co.uk

Google Woman and Home magazine look for the forums, they have supper clubs, walking groups, and book clubs around the country and abroad. once you meet a few people you might get someone else interested.

Have also joined a couple of local pet voluntary groups to meet a few more people, they have a fund raising events like balls, quiz nights, dances etc so they might also lead to something.

Have also pmed you with this in case you dont see the message.

good luck, if you were my way we could set up our own group!

    Have you thought about Zumba?

It's on at a more sociable time, and would not be putting yourself at risk.;)

Im sorry, why would going out clubbing be putting yourself at risk?

    I guess a few things.
    1. Being constantly approached by leering young lads who have drunk far too much.
    2. Finding yourself in the middle of a slanging match between GF and cheating partner.
    3. Leaving the place in the early hours of the morning as a woman on her own and having to get to her car.
    4. Being stuck alone in the early hours when the car has a flat tyre.

    etc.

Not to mention the extortionate cost of entrance to the club in the first place.

OP.....Joining a local social club might be a good idea as they no doubt have music nights and dances.....your husband could go too just to join friends and/or play snooker or whathaveyou.

Little Tinker, that's exactly what I was thinking of - a sober woman on her own, no mates, might single her out for unwanted attention, or even people thinking she's on the lookout for work, iyswim ( sober and on her own, as working ladies will be)

That's why I suggested a more organised form of dance, as the OP just wants to dance, didn't state it had to be after midnight.;)

  • I would definately suggest salsa. The group I went to was a mixture of couples, singles and married people that went on their own (like me). You had an hour lesson and then another hour or so of 'social dancing' where you dance with anyone. It's not considered polite to refuse a dance as the idea is to improve your technique rather than as a pick up.

The more advanced dancers and the instructers are encouraged to dance with the beginners so it's unlikely you would be left standing like a wallflower.
  • Thank you all for suggestions, I have now sighned up to some of your suggestions and should be going out next week! :)

What do I wear for Salsa?
I haven`t worn a skirt or heals for years! Can I come in trousers and some top? Would that be too scruffy?
I am getting really excited, will be probably stamping on everybodys foot, lol.
    Thanks again
  • Would also suggest swing dancing - I cant do it for the life of me but the classes can be lots of fun, and attract a varied crowd.
