Hi, yes all of those things are auto immune, so I'm afraid if you have T1D then you are more at risk of coeliac and thyroid problems. I was gutted for her when she was diagnosed with coeliac and also dread the yearly blood tests :(

Interestingly I have found that some diabetic coeliacs also have an allergy to Teflon/PTFE. I only found out when Madeline went on the pump and she was allergic to the cannula. So, out went all the teflon cooking pans!

That's interesting because I knew someone on a T1 group I left recently whose little one was having an awful time since starting on the pump and was also coeliac.. bad reactions to cannula sites and tried different tape and it made no difference).. shame I don't have anything to do with any of them any more (far too miserable and negative) Mine is still on MDI and is not wanting a pump... though they aren't doing new ones here at the moment with 1 nurse between 300+ children there simply is noone to do training.

ilyplonk same here. Dd1 and Oh both casein intolerant. Dd was sorta ok on fromage frais when young but cos she was our oldest we didnt realise her poo wasnt as normal as a non-casein intolerant bug. When she weaned off me she drank fruit juice. She also hate cheddar.

Hi, I'm not overly keen on the pump but I find it better than MDI. She has to have steel cannulas (like a small needle attached all the time rather than a piece of plastic cannula). She had large welts at the site with the ptfe ones and the insulin did not absorb. Interestingly when her grandad was in hospital recently he was also allergic to a cannula and got an infection :(

Is anybody in here on a special diet because they are lactose intolerant? How does that work with an O/S lifestyle - all cooking done from scratch etc?

I've been eating lactose free for about six, eight months. (Plus other food issues)

Tbh, I wonder how non cook from scratchers manage! Its simple to see with raw ingredients what to avoid. As soon as you go into any pre mad e stuff everything has to be read carefully.
