    Hi I'm not a techie but if you look at the bottom of the router is will have a sticker saying DEFAULT ACCESS and some numbers and the login details.

    As its a netgear the standard connection details are..

    IP: 192.168.1.1
    Username: admin
    Password: password

    Ive sold about 2000 over the past 3 years and have yet to encounter one with a different un / pw.

    i didnt get a cd with the router for some reason..was off ebay!

    One of the hazards of buying off ebay.

    Set it up manually then - see other posts in this thread.

    The OP is trying to setup wireless security, which is a bit difficult if you are relying on the wireless signal to get to the admin screen.

    The IP address issue had already been acknowledged after chippy pointed it out. I too have setup many netgear routers (but not this model), and the ip address has always been 192.168.0.1. The instructions were written for a dg834G.
