  • Hiya all, hope you all had good Christmas.

Well as my heading says, thats it all over and done with for me anyway. Back to work tonight for 5 nights which will take me to Jan 2nd. I am so excited for 2011. I have plans, ideasand goals to started on. already have stuff in my new diary. Its a page per day diary from the £1 shop, so plenty room to write down my plans, idea,s and thoughts too.

I have three birthdays in January and one of those is DH, I am thinking along the lines of a mystery tour, still working on it. I have bought Mams Birthday present for April £2.99 reduced from £9.99 and have put a note in my new diary to remind me I have it covered.
I got jewelry bits and bobs for Christmas too, so along with what I have, I will be able to make my sisters Birthday present for April too.

Catch up with you all soon, have good New Year and here is to all us having a good 2011

  • Looking at a No Spend day today :j and a Low spend day for tomorrow. I will have my 3yr old GD tomorrow and its usually the fun shack or swimming or something else that cost money, then lunch out ! So I am looking to find a no spend activity and a packed lunch or lunch at home :money:

Today I am sorting and organizing :T

    Hi Bluejeans: Happy New Year!

We had a good one at my brothers but have come home with a cold!
Thinking about days when you have your grandchildren and making them low cost days, have you thought of collecting arts and crafty bits and letting them create things, do baking, have treasure hunts, do dress up days and put on a show.
Can't you tell I'm a kid at heart?

    Hiya I am here,

Thanks for the ideas for grandchildren, we do bake. But arty crafty is good, might get them threading beads.

Well I fell off the wagon a bit.......well actualy i am a bit confused. Didnt really do anything wrong.....but feel so guilty.

Bored and went to reatail park, it was to look for two rolls of wallpaper ! Well I found a Fabulous clothes sale (wont bore, with the deatils). tops were £3 etc what I call a ACTUAL REAL SALE, not half price and still £25. Well the outcome was I splurged £80 ! My dilemer is. It was my money, from theatre and flexi work. I did not spend bill money. So Im telling myself, its your money do as you wish with it but then tell myself.....does not matter if its your money or not, you still wasted about £50 of it. ?????? is this wat MSE does to you lol

Its my weightloss issues only with money instead of food, all over again, eat something I should or eat when not hungry, then feel mega guilty ?

I did get the wallpaper £10 for two rolls:money:, OMG some of it was £27 a roll.

    :)

Hi Bluejeans, glad you're back. Right your lapse! Let's change the way of looking at it.

    1) You didn't have a splurge with bill money.GOOD:j
2)Of the £80 you spent, you say £50 of it was wasted. GOOD:jLast year I think you would have wasted all of it.
    3) You got your wallpaper at a very MSE price. GOOD.:j

    sUGGESTIONS:

Open a seperate account and transfer a set amount of money a month into it for you to treat yourself/splurge. Say £50 a month if you can afford it. This is yours to do what you want with - if it all goes on 1st day that's it gone. You can't change behaviour overnight.

The other idea is of the money you wasted can you use any of what you bought as future presents? If it was all clothes, sort through them and put some away to save for when you need a lift ( go to cupboard and get something new - no spend but new outfit)

Don't beat yourself up about it, you are dping well.

  • The money I spent was in a different bank account. I just felt guilty about wasting it. The £50 i feel i wasted, was on clothes I liked but did not need. So I have done as you suggested, put them away and if I get the urge to waste my own money again, I will go and get one of them out.

DH had a head on bump in his works van 3 weeks ago, in the bad weather and is sick from work. (no serious injuries) aches and pains in shoulders and arms. He realy is a star BUT wish he was back at work, I am all out of sink, sounds bad but I am used to my own routine and space. Cant seem to focus on getting my jobs done. He is bored and wants to go here there and everywhere.

Never mind, I must get focused and get on. I have done quite a bit of sorting. Dropped stuff of at the charity shop and skip. Tidied back garden and planted bulbs. Nice to see a few bulbs peeping through, ground starting to wake up a little.

Two birthdays this month and got them sorted. Two in February so must get them sorted next. One of my 2011 plans, was not to leave things till the last minute and end up racing around.

    :)

  • I have landed myself a cleaning/shopping job. Hours to arrange but about two hours a week. I have been asked what to going rate is for this, as quite prepared to pay it ? no idea. Minimum wage is £5.80. But have to travel about 4 mile to it, so that is a 8 mile round trip. Two hours will be done is one go, so dont know how much to charge ?
