Can anyone give me any advice about a really stupid mistake I made in the bank yesterday.

I went to deposit £230 for the sale of OH's hardtop. There was a long queue for the desks, so I used the express deposit chute. Filled in the paying in slip and envelope but discovered today I wrote the wrong amount on both!!!!!

I actually put in £230 (11 x £20 notes and 1 x £10) but wrote £130 on the paying in slip and envelope.

My account has only been credited with £130. I kept the money all together in my bag (not my purse) and remember counting it all out before putting it in envelope, but how can I prove this?

I feel such a divvy and really can't afford to 'lose' this £100......I am going into the bank tomorrow to try and sort it out, but if I wrote £130 on the paying in slip why should they believe I deposited £230? I know all the money went in because I remember counting it twice on the counter before putting it in the envelope. I just hope that the totals for the day were over by £100.

DD2 suggested asking them to check the CCTV which might show me counting the money??

Anyone else got any other ideas. I just feel sick at the thought of losing so much money.
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

really....it's not hard to understand :T

  • Suzy do you have a receipt for the hardtop? to prove you have 230 in first place

To be honest I am sure the totals will be over by 100 and it will be given to you, its the logical thing to have happen.

it must feel crap can you go to the bank first thing in the morning?
    Nevertheless she persisted.
