Hi. this might be in the wrong place, so feel free to move it.
Long time reader, first time poster.
I see that Lidl here in NI are selling Targa laptops this week. My daughter really needs a new laptop for university, but ill probably be getting her a different one than this, depending on how i get on with lidl CS.
I meant to post this a few months back, but forgot. Seeing the laptops reminded me, so here we go.
The laptops they are selling this week were on offer a few months ago at half price.
Yep, £249,99 for a laptop thats normally £500. High enough spec, decent graphics card etc. Would have suited my daughter perfectly.
Anyway, i went to my local store at 6.30am that day, and there were also a few other people queuing there for the laptops. The store didnt open until 8.
At about a quarter to 8, the newly promoted, really young (22-23yr old), and very arrogant idiot of a deputy manager (im a regular there, so i knew he just got promoted) drove in, in civvies, music blaring, done a handbrake turn and parked in the disabled spot beside the door, smoked a cigarette and then used his key to go into the store.
At 8 oclock as everyone was getting let into the store, he walked out with 2 laptops.
I didnt get one as they only had 10.
I put in a complaint, never heard anything back about it and had forgot about it until I saw them for sale again this week.
Should I call again, and did he break any rules.
Is there any chance they will offer me one of the ones they have now for the reduced price?
Should have posted this a few months back but i totally forgot to.
Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work.
Ill try to post more, now that ive finally registered

I know in my local Lidl they are allowed to get things put by. It was perhaps a little bit "off" having two and leaving with them at that time of day, but from what I can make out about the working conditions (such things as no staff discounts etc) they have to have one or two perks! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Need to get there a bit earlier if others had beat you to it, maybe 5.30am, or even night before
Better still, get your daughter to get her a*s out of bed at 5:30am, just give her the money

Reckon he sounds like a real cool dude, go on admit it, you've got a middle aged crush on him haven't you

Wouldn't bother, might be worth a try if you've time on your hands, you never know, doubt if there's any 'rules' with this sort of thing

That's the problem with those sort of stores. I myself have bought a high spec PC from Aldi (5 years ago) still a brilliant machine and got there early. I also have a netbook (10" screen) bought from Aldi 2 years ago - again a fab piece of kit. Most of Aldi items have a 3-year warranty.
You can also buy their stuff online at http://www.medion.com/gb/ and there are often offers.
Laptops are getting increasingly cheaper these days. Look at http://www.hotukdeals.com/computers/deals/hot for bargains.0 -

Just a suggestion - Instead of posting in the busiest place and creating work for a board guide to move it, why not look for a better place ?
Praise, Vent & Warnings is clearly more suitable for rants.0 -
Always worth complaining. I do it just for the nuisance value even if it isn't acted upon.I put in a complaint, never heard anything back about it and had forgot about it until I saw them for sale again this week.

As for whether he broke the rules I don't know but if I were working for Lidl's promotional sales team I wouldn't be very happy if I'd spent time making these offers available only for the staff to scoop them all up.0 -

Lidl's salaries for management are way above the market rate.0 -
Well that doesn't say much does it? Most people earn more than someone working in a market.nottseagull wrote: »Lidl's salaries for management are way above the market rate.0 -
From what I have been told Lidl actually pay their staff above the odds and defintiley more than Tesco. I am a long time fan of Lidl but know that the bargains go early so you need to get there. I hope you made a complain abot his behaviour. Nobody says he should not have bought one but to buy 2 and then flaunt it in front of the queue is not on. Hope she gets one.0
