I think anyone who works in a shop does it. I know i have. But normally it's better to be a bit more discrete about it.

Ridiculous comment. No-one was nasty or offensive, apart from one deleted post.
The OP even posted that the person who advised about the other forum was helpful.
  • Lidl's salaries for management are way above the market rate.

I think they get paid a bit more than Tesco etc..because the staff have to sweep up outside, clean windows, wash floors and other tasks that other shops employ people to do.

    The management do those tasks?
  • My cousin is a manager for Lidl back in Glasgow - He gets a good £30k+ salary but has to work about 60 hours a week (they are made to opt out of the working time law). He has to be at the store from 7:30am in the morning and its almost impossible to get holidays etc. They get treated really badly and damages and loses regularly get taken out of their wages.

I don't believe this; that would be illegal.
  • Well.
Just got a letter back from Lidl (its from the south of Ireland and quotes everything in Euro even though im in the North)
They said that the laptops sold out far quicker than they expected when they were on offer, and that all stores got a memo through to take details from customers who had missed the offer that day and they would try to get laptops for them, but that the memo wasnt sent until midday (so i was too early for that)
They said they currently have similar laptops in most of their stores in NI, as they were on sale last week, and asked me to call customer services and tell them which store I would like to get the computer from, so that they can fax some paperwork to the manager which, along with my letter will allow me to get the computer for the offer price!

Guess complaining isnt a waste of time after all!
Cant say too much for the store staff, but the customer services have been fantastic!

and i really dont mind all this "forum police" business. I didnt see that subforum the first time, sorry for the mix up

Glad it worked out for you.

It never hurts to complain - at the end of the day you've nothing to lost by doing so, and everything to potentially gain.

The deputy manager guy sounds like a bit of a t**t anyway, and fair enough to try to take advantage of perks, but within rules - ie they are obviously not meant to buy things before customers have also had the same opportunity, so after opening time. And to flaunt it like that is just plain rude and stupid IMO. That's the main things that annoys me about Lidl, there is Zero customer service, and most people are fine with that because they don't expect it because it's just one of those shops, and is cheap etc, but that's no excuse really. Although it sounds like the customer services team at least are better.

No the assistants but I do believe that managers have to pull and empty the pallets and get rid of the rubbish.
