I have lots of paper briquettes for the winter which I have made from all the letters DCA's have sent me from the last 12 months.
Materialistic things - diddly squat. The last loan I took out was to cover a £2k car repair bill.LBM & Debt July 2010 [STRIKE]£19,000[/STRIKE] now - £11,619.60 Long Haul Supporter #247

Hi there
I know I have a huge headache a pile of letters that was once a forest a grumpy other half who thinks I was the only one living off credit cards but the only thing I do know what to do is say NO to the kids NO to family and friends when they are stuck and NO to my creditors when they harrass me to pay more so all I coming out with is the ability to say NO NO NO
And a bl**dy good quality that is too! If only we could all have learned to say that to ourselves years ago!!!saltnvinegar wrote: »I have lots of paper briquettes for the winter which I have made from all the letters DCA's have sent me from the last 12 months.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: So that's what they're for...
I have two degrees... but not sure about what was consolidated to that...
On the plus side, I now also have a wiser head on my shoulders and a much more sensible outlook on life and money. Something I don't regret and something that doesn't seem to be easily passed on; some of my friend's still don't quite understand, despite me be very open about my debt and what that means (No, I can't go on hoiliday with you, no, I can't afford just a couple down the pub, no, I can't afford to go to your wedding and also buy you a present you probably don't even need or want...).Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Completely agree with you aswell. Had I not got into debt I never would have learnt to budget, then I would never had learnt to save, and never would have saved £10,000 to go travelling with. Obviously repaying the £19,000 was hellish, but it has set me up in good stead for life and I am glad I have learnt the lesson earlyish on (although thats most of my 20's gone!) xx0 -
