It's one of these http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://images.tvaerials.com/500/810.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.tvaerials.com/product.aspx%3Fproductid%3D801&usg=__M5C6N54mAx8r8gMfwQxmbh9vkYg=&h=190&w=259&sz=15&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=aoZAVYH099xd-M:&tbnh=124&tbnw=164&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtriax%2Boutlet%2Blink%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1262%26bih%3D577%26tbs%3Disch:10,143&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=324&vpy=236&dur=39&hovh=152&hovw=207&tx=132&ty=85&ei=RgyZTNb8G9WhOPKtkeoM&oei=UwyZTNPUE4zaOIjehP8M&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:0&biw=1280&bih=685 or very similar, it was in the flat when we moved in.
I've connected the end to the wall socket, the 'in' part with another lead into the back of the TV and have connected the other aerial into the 'out' bit. Everything working well at the moment anyway, what the hell is this thing!0 -
If "the other aerial", is an indoor aerial, take it out of the equation
It looks like a triax bnc to coax converter.!!

Yeah it is an indoor aerial, just a basic one really. What is mean't to go in the 'in and out' sockets? As I said I don't wanna play about with it too much as al channels are working at the moment!0
-
leave it then.
The test was to find out if there is an aerial with a decent signal in the loft or on the roof attached to your internal sockets, plugging an internal aerial in undermines the test, you may as well just plug the internal aerial into the tv and forget about the socket!!

I guessed that, but what is the Triax connector actually for? What SHOULD I do with it?0
-
compare the socket on the wall, to the one on the TV, they are different, so you need a converter.!!

Any link you would be kind enough to provide? And what I do with it etc. Cheers!
I sound like im talking in riddles, I'm actually usually good with this sort of thing. It's just that we rarely watch the bedroom tele, it's usually just Sky on the biggun. As I say though the bedroom TV is working fine tonight, it does this, then tomorrow it could completely mess up again...0 -
What link do you want? Look at the wall point, look at the back of the tv, look at the connector on the indoor aerial.
You need the converter to convert the triax bnc wall socket to the coax TV socket, it does nothing apart from convert the two types of connectors.
If you are using an indoor aerial, there is no point in plugging the converter into to the tv, just use the indoor aerial direct. But as you don't want to actually test where the signal is coming from, I've no idea whether the picture is coming from the indoor or outdoor aerial.!!

Good advice - all ignored thus far sadly.0
