They are probably available in pound shops and supermarkets for less than £3!!

The lead I had before is around somewhere, but definitely didn't work. Both ends to the cable were exactly the same, maybe thats why? I will try to get a new Coaxial lead asap , really hope that is the solution as I can see the tele going through the wall soon if not!0

If the cable fitted before then there is not a problem, however what was this box "in between" was it mains powered by any chance?
Do you get terrestrial reception of any sort on any TV in your house?0 -
Have never really tried to get it on the main tele as we've had Sky since moving in. But in the bedroom we get no terrestrial. Wel we do but it's so fuzzy that its un watchbale. But the Freeview is hit and miss in the bedroom. Like last night itv and E4 which we watched, were fine, whereas BBC kept breaking up.
Again, this is through watching with a normal tv aerial coming from the back of the set0 -

See if you can get terrestrial TV on the main set, which if you do, will prove that he aerial is okay for starters.0 -
maybe it didn't work, because there is no aerial connected to the socket, check that before spending money on another lead.!!

I live in a new build Shared Ownership so I can ring the Housing Association about problems but they seem a bit clueless regarding the Aerial signal issue...
How do I tell if the aerial is connected to the socket in the wall? I'm on the middle floor of three (thats not sarcasm by the way, a genuine question because I want to check...)0 -

Depending on what was specified in the build you may find that there is a cable connected to the back of the aerial socket (remove the socket and have a look) but it may not be connected to the distribution amp which will be fed from a roof aerial.
Not uncommon in new build houses then you get charged a fortune for someone to make extra aerial sockets work.
If you can try and see if you get your main TV working with a signal from the socket in the main room, then we will be starting to narrow things down a bit.
As has already been suggested it might mean getting into the loft space and connecting up a bit of cable.0 -
Social Housing administered by Housing Associations.
Very very little housing stock will be less than a year or so old. most will be [ amplified ] and analogue. Physically there will be an ariel in the loft connected to an amp feeding a half dozen or less properties. The exception to the rule will be those which have had their ariel updated over the last year or so. The fact of the matter is those who shout loudest are heard first, with perhaps [ in my area ] an average of 4000 homes on the HA books upgrading the entire stock to digital in one go would be an unachievable aspiration.
My suggestion get in touch with your landlord [ the rented side of your share ] and ask them if your block can be upgraded, additionally follow it with a written request to the named individual responsible for your postcode area.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. Just spoke to them again. They said they have just sent out letters which tell residents that the block will soon have it's aerials upgraded, due to the Digital Switchover? It's all rather strange, the building was only finished just over two years ago.0
