I searched on Zoopla, Sold Prices and it came up.
I just spoke to the EA and I said that I had seen the property for sale a few months back for a higher price, but assumed that it had sold. The EA pretended to look at some notes and said 'No, it has just been reduced'
So either he doesn't know or he is covering something up... maybe the elusive ghosts issue.
I am viewing the property this afternoon (with the agent) so I will report back if he cracks under pressure and tells me the TRUTH!0 -
Maybe they've painted all the interior walls purple and moved the bath to the middle of the bedroom. Some people do strange things to houses and knock thousands off the value.
Most likely it's a job loss / relocation or a relationship split up and they have to move quickly. And house sales are often busiest during the summer and slow down towards winter anyway. Is there a major local employer making redundancies?A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Really don't think it's something the EAs could or would lie about. Have you tried going back on Zoopla and double checking you were on the 'sold' tab and not the 'for sale' tab? Sorry to state the obvious!

Isn't there some law still about keeping a property for 12 months or the government (or whoever) think you're a property developer and you end up paying more tax on it? Not sure if that's the same if the property's up for less than what they paid though!
Intriguing... I want to know too now

WHy are you all suprised that this house has dropped in value?
Or am I missing something
If people cant sell due to the first time buyer problems then they are just going to have to drop the price if they want a quick sale.0 -

After your first post I went and rechecked as I doubted myself, but it definitely is listed as Sold. Same on Rightmove Sold Prices.
Regarding the Land Registry updating things; I think it depends on your solicitor informing them, as my house which I boughtback in 2005 had no listing and I had to add it myself.
Just trying to pluck up the courage to 'confront' the EA and pretend I googled it this afternoon and saw the sale price.
The agent was saying that the market is moving VERY quickly at the moment and if I want it, I will have to move quick. I love all the pressure tactics
carefullycautious - My original question was would you think that there is anything sinister about it being back on the market so quickly - I assume you are just assuming that its straight forward change in circumstance and they are just pricing to sell....0 -
Do you need a mortgage? I thought mortgage lenders were being funny about lending on houses which had been owned by the previous owner for less than six months. Might be worth checking that won't cause you a problem.0

Was listening to X Factor as I read that and 'Always Look on the Bright Side was playing in the background. Seemed somewhat apt lol
I'm thinking something might have fallen through rather than actually completed - not to say it wasn't something messy that fell through after exchange or something. Make sure they're not about to mess you about... fingers crossed.

We sold our house to someone who killed his whole family in there 6 years later. He was carted off to a secure place and it has been on the market and been sold since.
