Thanks Mike both for number and kind words.
It's so reassuring knowing all this support is here in one place and to know you aren't being judged (can you tell I've still not got over the process!) cos everyone is in the same boat.
Thanks sandralovescats for the info about Myvista just checking out where I can get one from.
Anyone know how rog2 got on??Trying to stay on the wagon with a FlyLady Daily Fix :j:j:j

Hi all.
Quick question. Does how much you owe in total to creditors make any difference in the bankruptcy procedure?0 -
For the Cashplus Card go to
http://www.mycashplus.co.uk/site/get_your_card.aspx
Have a look at the store locator since I found it easier to register in person than online. They don't look at you as a bankrupt. It is not credit-checked. When I applied for mine I wanted a card without any credit, I wanted to use it like a credit card but without the debt.0 -
There is another forum that is fantastic for your own technical problems with IVA or Bankruptcy, it might help one of you here. They have insolvency practitioners to answer questions for you. Each individual case is so different. Each case can carry really technical questions and, unless someone here has been through it themselves, they won't be able to answer the questions! Take a look and see if they might be able to help you out. I found it helpful.

Hi all,
Sorry for not posting yesterday - I got home at 7 o'clock and was absolutely shattered, as I had to leave at 5 in the morning.
Last night I had my best night's sleep in months :j :j
So - How did it go? In a word - painlessly.
I arrived at the High Court to be greeted by banks of television cameras, only to find that they were NOT waiting for me. There was obviously something of much more importance going on yesterday, so I was able to slip in unnoticed.
The High Court is a Labyrinth, but, fortunately, there was a lady available to escort me to the part that I needed.
I went into the room, and the clerk pointed me to the HMRC representative, who told me that they were 'prepared to ask for a six week adjournment'. I asked why, since it had taken me 4 hours to get there and I did not want to go through it all again, and she said that it would give me 'extra time' to pay.
I confirmed, yet again, that I had no means to pay them anything, so she asked me to wait. Five minutes later we were called into the court. The judge was extremely pleasant - looked at the papers and asked me what I would like to do. He asked me if I would like an adjournment, and if I would be able to pay the judgement during that time. I explained that I had no money, and was currently unemployed, to which he replied that bankruptcy would probably be my best option, there would be no shame and it would give me the chance of a fresh start. Again he asked me if I was happy with that and then made the statement ' At 10.32 am on Thursday 26th October 2006 I declare Rog2 bankrupt.'
He then asked me if I was going straight home, and suggested I might like to take a look around the High Court, whilst I was there, and wished me all the very best for the future.
I asked if I had to do anything else and he told me to go to the clerk, who gave me a piece of paper with the OR phone number, and address, and told me to phone them, to see if they wanted to see me then, or to try and make an appointment nearer my home. I phoned the OR office, and they told me I could go home and phone them Friday.
All in all it was very civilised, the judge was a gentleman and it was all over in minutes.
I did not, however, take up the invitation to 'tour' the courts and as I left the courts, the cameras were still there - this time, there was a rather distinguished looking gentleman reading a statement so, if it was on the television, I was the bloke in the black blazer, skulking round the side of him, trying to look inconspicuous.
Thanks to you all for your advice and support:beer:

Hi rog2,
so glad everything went painlessly. I think that's one thing we all have in common regardless of the differing financial circumstances. That is the immense feeling of relief the minute we are handed that number in court. All those sleepless nights are worth it!
Thanks sandralovescats, looked on the website and the nearest place that deals with this is about 50 mile round tip. Still decideing whether to go in person. Am also weighing up another couple I found on a web search. Anyone know anything activeplus/flexiplus account or extreme card as I would rather get one that has a personal recommendation. I agree with you sandralovescats tha I want the convenience of a card without the debt side of things.
James&shell Did you have your co-op cashminder account before you went br or have you opened it since> I have been discharged (after 6 months) but think my records will still show util the full year is up, am I right?Trying to stay on the wagon with a FlyLady Daily Fix :j:j:j

I opened a Co-op Cashminder Account four weeks ago, ready for bankruptcy.
The Co-op set up this account for that very purpose!
I phoned them yesterday and told them my Court date for BR and they were fine about it, said that there wasn't a problem.
You won't have a problem opening an account with them.
You apply by phone, not online, which was painless for me.
Good Luck0 -

It shouldn't make any difference, unless of course the amount is so high that there could be a suggestion of fraud.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
