Hi
Good luck for the 6th.
The hardest part is accepting that br is the correct thing to do. Once you've come to terms with guilt/failure/pride/anger the rest of it becomes a pretty positive experience as you actually realise that you are back in control and are not being controlled. After ages of reacting to circumstances all of a sudden you can be proactive
I don't understand too much about br as a buisness option but I imagine it carries the same emotions

For me the decision to go bankrupt was the most difficult decision I ever had to make in my 43 years.
I became less and less able to work due to a health problem, I couldn't meet my repayments. Then I lost a part-time job I was relying on to keep me going for the next 20 years. I am in dispute with my employer over that and it is going to employment tribunal.
I had applied for an IVA then, 6 weeks down the line, I had the debt management company on the phone telling me that there was no way I could make the repayments. He said that since I had no assets, no mortgage, etc, I had nothing to lose and everything to gain by going voluntarily bankrupt. After I cried all night and I got my thinking head on, I decided that he was right. I either sat there and waited for one of my creditors to make me bankrupt or I take control and do it myself. I chose the latter. The next difficult part was phoning the Court to make the appointment. The Clerk on the phone was fantastic and friendly and went through the details. I had already found the SoA form on the official government site.
It became a great relief once I had the appointment.
My GP decided that the time had arrived for me to quit work altogether and to go on Incapacity Benefit. I just got DLA last week. I have ordered a car through motability, which is automatic, so I won't get it until Christmas.
I see the tax inspector next Tuesday, because I am registered as self-employed.
I had opened a Co-Op Cashminder account when doing the IVa. I phoned them this morning and told them I was now having to go voluntarily bankrupt on 20/11 and they were fine about it, no problem there.
Now all I have to worry about it is how much money they will want from me for the next 3 years!
I can - finally - see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Best Wishes to everyone who has to go through this.0 -

The bank wont bat an eyelid at you canx all your DD's... Do you have online banking... if so canx all online.
Sorry I wasn't very clear before. I do have a large OD with present bank and creditors DDs are coming from there. (I am opening a new basic accout but it's not set up yet.) Creditors DDs are due out on 1st, should I just stop them going now? I don't have online banking.0 -
Yes! Stop the DD's now! What is the point of paying them?0
