general rant about BBCiplayer

I tried to watch Mad Men on iplayer but the picture was freezing with the dialogue going on over a kind of freeze frame montage

I then spent 45 minutes trying to ask a question about this

the message boards, the new threads or reply features are down the email addresses are blocked or not working but there is no explanation as to why etc, etc, etc, etc.

I just wondered if i need to update iplayer or update my Quicktime or something

I only want to watch Mad Men!! And it ONLY a playback site! They dont have to do anything else except play things back! Its not rocket science!

I'm really amazed at what a naff system the BBC are running on their websites - it reminds me of trying to pin down a cowboy outfit in the 80's!! I only wanted to ask hot to stop the picture freezing

thats 45 mins I will never get back!

So much for computer technology - once again it doesnt deliver

and officials wonder why people download TV shows and movies (download films bad, TV depends)
hopefully BBC will get it sorted as i wanted to watch that Merlin and after the BBC1 intro (the bicycle thing) then it messes up

Use the download for portable device or windows media player option if it allows.

At least you wont have it stutter or buffer whilst watching.

grai, you've no chance with doing much, never mind streaming internet video, if your hard drive is nearly full! Leave the BBC alone and sort out your computer first!

Iplayer is the best cos it lets you download (when streaming might be intermittent) and LATER play back perfectly smoothly from disk.

Programmes, files, whatever you've got on there.

Everything you download to use/view later, or install goes onto your harddrive (basically anything you'll use after a reboot).

Depending on how long your computer has had since it's last been reinstalled even just the basic OS can use a lot of space, more commonly it'll be things like games, applications, any music/video/pictures you've downloaded/bought/taken and loaded onto the computer.

Without knowing anything about your computer specifications and use it's hard to know what's up (although low hard drive space can/will cause issues with things like video that needs buffering, or anything memory intensive especially on a machine that has relatively little RAM and relies on the hard drive for virtual memory).
