A2DP would be the way forward here, something like Io Play, which will let you steam music via Bluetooth, if you're running Google Navigation it'll put the instructions through your car speakers at the same time too, and give you a handsfree kit.

To the OP, if you're near Suffolk I do have a Ford fitting kit you can have for gratis if you want it.

    Regards,
    Andy

Thank you so much for the kind offer, unfortunately I am hundreds of miles away though!! Thanks though.

Instead of an IPod, what about a MP3 CD changer? I have a six-disc in my car, and have hundreds of albums to listen to- one disc alone holds (most) of Metallica's back catalogue.
The only downside is trying to decide what to listen to....
They're cheap as chips to buy now as well, and powering them is no problem.

do you know if there is anything similar to this for the htc desire

A good number of cars now are coming with the USB connections, which will allow the HTC Desire to work, albeit in Mass Storage.

This is another point that a lot of the USB connections do not work with the iPod touch due to the type of memory used. Fiat's Microsoft system, which is actually very good, is USB based and iPhone and Touch owners need a £60 part to make their device work. Nothing unusual that it is more expensive for iPhone owners right enough!

I actually have a USB stick, 4GB which is a back up of all my music and saves carrying the MP3 around in case I leave it in the car accidentally- avoids any issues.
  • I got a radio with a usb and an aux port from Argos, cost less than £100 but I used my necter points so it was only about £20. Dead easy to fit in a Peugeot as it already has the right shape hole in the dash. The only thing is I can't use the little joystick on the steering any more.

Also the cd plays MP3 so you can do it that way too
Nothing to see here, move along.
  • It has got a six cd player in it, i'll prob just make playlists on itunes and then burn it to cd. Still going to see what halfords say as well though!!
    Thank you!

Has your existing player got an aux button on the front? And have you checked in the glove box? My old Focus had the aux button but no socket ( although I think the loom was there for one), my latest Focus has aux button and the connection is in the glove box near the top. I play my Ipod Touch through there. Usually just set it to shuffle unless I want a definite album to play
