The other option is to buy a dedicated new stereo with iPod interface, this is normally installed into the glovebox, then you plug the iPod in though the "bottom connection" and the stereo controls the iPod, so it acts like one massive CD.

This also charges the iPod too.

It's unlikely. The closest you'd probably get is one of the USB mass storage device ones - so if you plug it into a computer and it is recognised as a USB mass storage device it should work with that, with the added bonus of charging via USB (if supported). But I have one of these type of stereos and just leave a hard disk plugged into it in the glove box.

A2DP would be the way forward here, something like Io Play, which will let you steam music via Bluetooth, if you're running Google Navigation it'll put the instructions through your car speakers at the same time too, and give you a handsfree kit.

To the OP, if you're near Suffolk I do have a Ford fitting kit you can have for gratis if you want it.

Some info here not sure if there is a cheaper solution or if your car has a CD changer. Can ou post up the model number of your stereo or maybe phone and ask your local Ford dealer if an iPhone can be plugged into it.

Definitely go for the ipod interface, whilst the standard aux in is fine if you have a passenger changing tracks is slightly difficult whilst driving.

Before anyone jumps in and states the legality of using an ipod whilst driving, it's not banned like a telephone "(4) A device referred to in paragraphs (1)(b), (2)(b) and (3)(b) is a device, other than a two-way radio, which performs an interactive communication function by transmitting and receiving data." but would possibly be classed as Careless Driving.
