ipod in car

Hello!:)
I have an ipod and am wanting to use it in my car instead of having lots of CD's. I am wondering what the best thing to do is as my stereo doesn't have a point to plug the ipod in. My bf has had a couple of the belkin things which i'm sure one didn't work properly.
What do people on here use please??
Thankyou!

Firstly those FM things are crap, tried them all from £1.99 petrol station "Bargain of the week" to the aforementioned Belkin, none of them have been effective for me. Also they have a nasty habit of amplifying mobile phone interference.
Your best bet is to speak to somebody in Halfords (other retailers are available) or similar and explain exactly what you want to do.

Thanks for the advice! I was going to buy a belkin hoping that they had maybe improved over the years but obviously they haven't!!0

If you are using explicitly an iPod there are two broad choices. Buy a stereo with an "aux in" which basically uses the headphone socket. My person view is that the sound quality on these units is nothing more than average, but it's better than the FM setup. Problem is you still need to use the iPod to skip forward tracks etc.
The other option is to buy a dedicated new stereo with iPod interface, this is normally installed into the glovebox, then you plug the iPod in though the "bottom connection" and the stereo controls the iPod, so it acts like one massive CD.
This also charges the iPod too.

Think i'll go into Halfords and speak to them about what you have suggested, thank you! I am useless with all kinds of technology!0

Don't be scared of fitting it yourself, it's really not rocket science. They let the kids in Halfords do it. What car is it?

It's a 2002 focus, i'll get my Dad to have a nosey at it tonight. Agree with the fitting it yourself, I hate that they charge for fitting windscreen wipers and bulbs, I do those myself!! It should come as standard customer service not an extra that you have to pay for!0

The Focus is very easy to fit a new stereo in to, I take it you have the standard "big" Ford radio in at the moment?
