WARNING: ASDA Photo-Processing

I am not sure if this is a widespread generic issue, or just at my local store in Havant; but a warning anyway.
I use a camera where I use a foot-pedal to take the photograph, to enable me to take photographs with me in them, but without all the hassle of timers and missing the shot and the like.
ASDA processed the photo and when I went to collect it asked if the photo was taken by another photographer. I said no and explained how I did it. The woman said that she did not believe me and said that if I could not prove that I took the photo, then she will have to assume I did not have the copyright and therefore could not release the photograph to me.
I asked for a refund (you must pay at the point where you submit your images) and she pointed to a crass, unbranded and faded sign that stated the copyright laws and stating that in this instance, ASDA will not refund you money!
So be warned.... if you use a timer to take photographs with you in them, do not take them to ASDA (or at least the one in Havant) or they will take your money and not give you your photographs!

Is your equipment portable, I'm guessing it is.
Simple solution is take your equipment in too the branch and show her!!!0 -
Then DEMAND a refund and be sure they know you intend to go somewhere with a teeny bit more experience than that.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
"Marleyboy you are a legend!"
MarleyBoy "You are the Greatest"
Marleyboy You Are A Legend!
Marleyboy speaks sense
marleyboy (total legend)
Marleyboy - You are, indeed, a legend.0 -
DEMAND a refund
definitely.
And go to the local press as well.
Good job you didn't have pictures of children in swimwear to develop0 -
Even worse would have been if you had taken a picture of an adult who appeared to be under 25 holding a bottle of wine.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Take your business card along in future, or camera clube membership card.0

TBH, I can't fault her- she is doing her job. If a processor suspects the image may be professionally taken, copyright/printing issues do come into play. By law, she shouldn't print it if she suspects you may not be the photographer.
I'd take it as a compliment that she obviously views the work as professional, and not an insult- while it is annoying, just go back and see her with a photo of the equipment.0 -
Fair enough if they won't release the print, but surely they should give a refund.0

So the ASDA employee suspects the photo was taken by someone else - but if this was the case, how come you had the undeveloped film??? It doesn't make sense - but it does if you were the person who took the photo in the first place......
Of course with a digital camera, this silly situation wouldn't occur."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Can happen as easily with film as digital, I'm afraid.
When I managed a lab, the sheer amount of people who would bring in film or digital- maybe a friend of a photographer would drop off film, for example- we did need to query.
Digital- view discs (low res photos for viewing only) we'd also have plenty of, people could never understand that the image displayed perfectly on their 17in monitor, yet wouldn't print more than 6x4!0
