I shall be watching the Tour de France and some of the F1....crikey there`s loads of sport tomorrow

I love the TDF when they hit the pyrenees, although i haven't been watching this year. No tv channel with coverage here. :( Have they hit the pyrenees yet? Bit of a masochistic streak there? :D

I'm like you ani, bought two massive bags of compost last time I decided I needed some - no idea when it will all get used - does compost go off?

Apparently it can go mouldy, but i wouldn't worry too much about it.:)

If you store it in a cool place - or outside, and make sure there are holes in the bag, or it s open, then mould is less likely.

Is it a gardening or resting day today?

Dya know, i can't even remember what i've been stressed over, this week. All the usual suspects? Whinge whinge whinge. Moan moan moan. Isn't that what diaries are for? I feel so tired and i feel even more ill, even though superficially, i am coping? I have been drifting in and out of sleep this morning. Imagine going to work, like this. Imagine what my garden would be like if i went back to work. This is the first time in my life, i have had Time to devote to gardening. A simple pleasure in life? Not particularly, but it diverts my attention from other pursuits? Still, does anyone know how many potatoes you get from one plant? Maybe i should plant more potatoes. Bit random that. It looks potentially a gardening day, and i need to repot my lettuce if i'm to sustain my hard? work and reap the benefits of eating them? On the other hand, i just want to stay in bed. Back into the week, brings monday and an endless day of phone calls and car repair sorting, amongst all " the rest " Dla appeal has to be in. I received a phone call from wr on friday who realised they had " messed up ", and it's now the order of the day to get everything back in time for my dla appeal. Bc from jcp is calling tomorrow, to help with atos info. Sw is calling. It is now well into july, isn't it? and being off ill is causing as much, if not more, stress than being in the real world? or being at work, isn't it?

I have 99% decided i won't return to my old job. I can no longer hack the uncertainty of work availability, long periods with no pay, or waiting for pay to arrive, hmrc deducting a ridiculous amount of my pay at source and then fighting for tax rebates i don't receive, long working hours starting at 3.00am as my work colleague pointed out to me, the other day, and generally being a puppet on a string. I think it is only now, six months down the road, i am starting to feel the benefits of no longer being at work, although i still receive the occasional are you coming back to work, look what you are missing. Yeah right. But it has always been said, if i don't make the break now, i never will. It's true. It doesn't really matter these days. Whether i work or not, i am still struggling on a similar, low income. To be honest, even though i can't afford to live, it doesn't seem to be that much different from when i was working. If you add it up, it wasn't?

I received my rent statement on friday. Another of those anomalies. Even though the rent has been paid for some time now, my arrears have risen by another £100 to £600. Another phone call. I don't understand why the arrears are rising whilst the rent payment is being maintained. Of course, it's bad news as it brings me ever closer to eviction, until other people get their a* into gear. Eviction. The threat of eviction is going to hang over me for some considerable time, and i am never going to feel settled here, whist it does. I read they have only just brought in this new probationary tenancy period, and i am far from the perfect tennant, ( other than i look after this place, particularly the garden, kitchen, bathroom? and generally everything else, as i was considering doing some outside painting yesterday? only because the b*y ha won't do it?) It also looks likely they can increase the probationary period, due to my rent arrears. Being homeless is never a guarantee of having a home or becoming homeless again? I still haven't done the unpacking yet, and that is probably even more unsettling. However, most of the " stuff " i have in my living room, is " stuff " you would normally keep in kitchen cabinets, like pots, pans etc. Maybe the instability of " life " is getting to me?

I forgot. I received an email about my application. Even that comes with it's problems. You tend to forget how your financial history, past and present affects your integrity and intelligence ad infinitum?

To garden or to bed. I can't decide. Maybe a bit of both?

    Thanks x

Both, i suspect, as i actually feel pressurised into gardening whilst it isn't raining, since we've had so much rain. :(

To me it makes absolute sense for you not to return to your old job... even if the rate of pay is higher, there isn't enough work for you to get enough income and so it would make better sense to look for something that might be lower paid but which would give more regular hours and hopefully less of your time would be taken travelling too.

    *Catches her breath*.

Before that though - I know you've been to the doctor various times but have you actually been for the illness/pain you have at the moment? I think it's gone on long enough, it needs to be checked. :naughty:

What was the result of the phone call about the mysteriously increasing rent?

Potatoes... the answer to how much is probably 'lots': http://www.ehow.com/facts_7874779_average-potato-yield-per-plant.html which incidentally can be maximised: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/sqfoot/msg041243445530.htmlhttp://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/sqfoot/msg041243445530.html.

An interesting forum, if only for the spelling of 'potato'. :D

Sorry about long links, still half asleep here.

    ^^ agreeing^^ With miggy

Seems like a trip to the doctors is in order, especially if your doctor will confirm that at the moment you have limited capability to work.

Not really understanding the rent arrears thing, if the property is housing association, don't you get HB? Seems most odd the arrears should go up while you pay them.

Good that you have at least had an email about your application, dreadful the impact that previous and current situations have on our confidence and abilities. Good luck with it

Sounds like a gentle mix of rest and garden are in order

You would think so, wouldn't you, but if there's any coming in it's insufficient. There's a complicated situation to do with whether or not Ani's employed (different departments classify differently) which throws a spanner in the works for various things like taxes: I'm not sure whether HB is affected by that too but basically the benefits stop short of what the Government says is the minimum needed to live on. :(

I bet the arrears increase is due to a mistake on their part. Grr.

A few days ago you were looking for ways to use 4 pints of milk which had been discounted, and therefore, I'm assuming, were short-dated. You also said no rice pud, which admittedly stopped me in my tracks (how can anyone not like rice pud?)

Now you are going to tell me you don't like cottage cheese either, which is a shame because I think you could try it in a slow cooker if yours will heat to the same temp mine will (just bubbling).

You don't like yogurt either? Pity. ;)

There's also good ol' bread pudding and I know I have the recipe somewhere though it requires more ingredients. Personally I can eat that hot or cold, breakfast, lunch or dinner time. It won't use up as much milk though.

I did think of porridge or weetabix with hot milk or even a milk jelly, but again I think the problem's going to be using enough milk while it's fit to use.

Hope you are feeling better today and that's the sun' s come out? It's out here but I'm off to work for a few hours so the garden's going to have to wait.

Well, it is due to someone sat in an office somewhere, as ever, not doing their job efficiently? Perhaps they spend their work time on mse? :(

To simplify, i live in supported housing. The " supporters " haven't paid their portion of my rent. This dates back to march. It therefore becomes my debt, as ever. :o

It's almost impossible to work out the figures, as ever, but probably would take my rent arrears into the £400 mark? as opposed to £600. :(

I only noticed it because i've just received the statement showing my rent arrears are rising on a weekly basis. It has supposed to have been dealt with, as ever.
