Ohhh....would cat litter work like grit? (clean not used ..though that might well deter them :rotfl:)
Good thinking, batman, thats a very good idea. Will look into the cost of " value " cat litter.
Just googled and :-
Consider the other organic slug deterrents that generally contain sharp, water-absorbing, stone chips. Slugs don't like to slide over sharp stone on their delicate tummies and if they do come into contact with it, it acts rather like salt and desiccates them.
They also don't like strong ground coffee, ( that's me out then,) salt, ( already tried,) slug pellets, ( already tried.)
Another idea which seems a strong possibility - Payground sand, ( can't afford it,) or unravelling one or more " wire wool " type scouring pads and laying those around the plants, ( i have some.) Not going to work in the wind? :rotfl:
I think the cat litter sounds a pretty darn good idea, since it is now so wet. More work involved though, building a miniature fortress around each plant, but could be worth the effort in the long run?Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

You dont appeal the DLA decision in the first instance.
You ask them to look at the decision again.
Whatever else you do/dont do please do this on Monday.
All you are doing is a wee letter to ask them to reconsider the decision & add in a couple of lines relating to your mental health.
The %age of first time claims refused is very high as has been said,

Yes, i believe you have to move quickly, 28 days seems to stick in my mind for some reason?
It would appear the decision has been based on my gp's report, which i find hard to believe, given their support.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

I am utterly confused as to where to start with everything that's been talked about today...
Cat litter, officialdom and slugs. What a nice mixture. Somebody has a garden in a bank, and slimey things don't like coffee?
Quite possibly, when it says the decision is made on the GP's report. it means their interpretation of the report, not the GP's view as to your roadworthiness.
The difficulty with cat litter and wet weather might be that cat litter has to be dry to work - but on the other hand if it's the clumping variety, you might end up with a some little cement fortresses? Cue Mr Bean-type action - moats, drawbridges, portcullises...Miggy

That's an original place to have your garden, hmmm
Maybe it should comprise £50 notes?
( sorry, couldn't resist )
Edit - The money grows on trees, £50 note variety?
Yes, very bl**dy funny:p lord knows what I was thiking about when I was typing but rest assured if I do find a few £50 notes growing on trees they will be shared with a select few xx

:rotfl::rotfl: this certainly has turned into one very random thread, but I like it (and the lovely peeps who post on it x) My current variety of cat litter to hand isn't clumping (though it is antibacterail and eliminates odours so my toms wouldn't smell and would be very hygenic :rotfl:) I guess this would work because even when wet / damp, the bits of litter would prob stick to the underneath of said slimey critters (slugs not MPs, though might have the same effect on them too :rotfl:) Ani, I know what you mean wondering if it's worth it, i started with 12 little seedlings, and am now down to 4 plants left thanks to cold weather, strong winds and slimy critters... however, this is bringing out my competitive side and I darn well will have at least one home grown tomato if it kills me this summerFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I feel vaguely ashamed that you have all been beavering away in the garden. Our usually productive veg patch is just weeds and the strawberries are fighting for their lives amongst the dandelions. I've planted zilch and can't seem to find the enthusiasm now I have to do it all myself. I'm probably going to regret it as I do like my runner and broad beans.Never pass a chance to say you care to those in your life as we are not promised a tomorrow0

It now goes without saying.
To all the lovely people who have posted on my thread, it's been a very long journey thus far, and undoubtably the way i have been able to cope today, is down to the people who have taken the time and caring, to help me through all this.
My genuine love and heartfelt thanks to you all and a cheesy :A xxDebt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?
