Immigration, houses and upbringing

My point was about education and upbringing. I made no reference to skin colour. I have three concerns with many (but not all) UK school leavers
Your post made comparisons between immigrants and British people, attacking the latter as stupid and praising the former as well educated etc. You used the video to illustrate your point. If this isn't racism I don't know what is.0 -

You clearly have problems reading where did macaque mention race?I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I am a mixture of nationalities. I did find the OP a little anglophobic. However this seems to be the british way, run down your own country, don't take any pride in your national flag. e.t.c.
I've resigned myself to this being the norm for your country. It doesn't occur elsewhere to the degree it does here.0 -

I would call it Anglodespairist. It frustrates me deeply that good home grown employees are becoming so difficult to find. New Labour have made a diabolical mess of our education system.
Teachers walk a minefield of political correctness. Bad teachers don't get sacked. Teaching methods are controlled by Whitehall. Children have far too much power and the default reaction of school governers is to accept the word of the child over that of the teacher. If a child hits a teacher, the child is spoken to. If a teacher hits a child, their career is over. Governing bodies are terrified of lawsuits from parents. What chance do schools have of turning out decent people with so much control from intolerant lefty liberals.
Ask yourself why employers are screaming for immigration caps to be lifted when we have 8 million people 'economically inactive' and soaring levels of youth unemployment. I am not remotely Anglophobic, just honest about the sharade that passes off as education these days.0 -
Bad teachers didn't get sacked under Thatcher's government. The heads would do as they do now ask them to leave or restructure the school.I would call it Anglodespairist. Again that started under Thatcher's government and nu Labour took that to the extreme.Teaching methods are controlled by Whitehall.
They don't I know some school governors.Children have far too much power and the default reaction of school governers is to accept the word of the child over that of the teacher.

The local authority makes it as difficult as possible for schools to exclude a child by allowing the parents to appeal.
The governors I know were shocked how hard it was to get a kid out of their school and what was worse the kid wasn't from a deprived background but from a family who know their rights and have money.Ask yourself why employers are screaming for immigration caps to be lifted when we have 8 million people 'economically inactive' and soaring levels of youth unemployment. Since there are lots of older people without jobs not just NEETs then there is a good reason to have an immigration cap. Part of the issue is employers refusing to train staff on the job but expecting them to have the exact skills already.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

X Factor type shows appear to offer a short cut to success. There is nothing wrong with that and our collective connivance encourages it. As I type this there are 1000's of groups/people out there busy thinking can they make it and they are the ones that have got themselves organised and week in and week out play in pubs and clubs across the country. A lot of the time playing to nobody and barely covering their expenses. We can castigate many of the wannabees but stupid they aren't, deluded possibly.
As for immigrants. Polticians, the media, think tanks, trade unions etc have exhausted themselves trying to find an answer to the immigrant conundrum. All to no avail. There is no one single answer. Our cousins from Eastern Europe will do the work that we won't. The NHS trundles along on the backs of Indian doctors and Philipino nurses, our restaurants and takeaways are run by Chinese, Bangladeshis and Pakistanis. Even our choice of recreational narcotic is farmed by illegal Vietnamese immigrants.
But this isn't just a UK issue. We can find the exact same topics of conversation in North America, most other EU countries and South Africa.
We should perhaps just face facts, many parts of the world have little to offer in terms of personal safety and economic well being. It is little wonder therefore that so many people would choose to come here. As to solutions, I have no idea except to say that every policy dreamt up and implemented has failed to deliver and the idea of a "gated" country is crazy.0 -
These people, whom you describe so well, are as British as the Pope is muslim. They don't belong here and should not be here - not now, not in a thousand years. How did we come to such a situation?
I would be very surprised if you could show that your family has been here for a thousand years.
The fact is, if you go back far enough, we are all immigrants."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

No,. They are, however, seeking to remove them. Different thing.
From a quick google (never having heard of the woman) it appears the family's visa has expired and not been renewed. So unless they make a case for staying, they will not have permission to remain....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Work ethic
All too often, UK schools fail to instill good work ethics and self discipline. After years at play school, UK school leavers find it very difficult to work hard for extended periods. Good standards of written English and maths are treated as an option by schools rather than a default necessity.
Work ethic and self discipline comes from the home: lack of it isn't just a UK disease. I've worked in enough international offices and deal with a lot of other countries daily, to be able to state that as a fact.
From our dealings, there is one country in particular that has the worst work ethic by far, and it isn't the UK.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
