Three very large Romany women in traditional dress and with gold teeth, etc, trailing kids, got on the bus, were screaming and shouting at each other, and put on a radio with very loud (traditional) music. I defy anyone to say that people such as this can in any way be useful members of British society, who will not take anything from hard-working taxpayers.

What frustrates the hell out of me Sapphire, I say this as someone who is a quarter Romany, is that the people on the bus put up with that and didn't say anything. Anti-social behaviour should not be acceptable, no matter who does it or what race they are.

Politely putting up with antisocial behaviour is a traditional British way to behave.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

We shouldn't have to be afraid to say something. Personally I would, because the more people behave like this the more they think they can get away with it. Having said that, I don't know Tooting as an area or how safe it is and I might feel different there.

I have stopped two guys mugging an old lady before now and I would do it again. I have a bit of a self-destruct interventionist nutter streak though :o.

Unfortunately these two are not that uncommon.......

We do work placements for students who want to try out work for a week/fortnight. Most don't turn up, some occasionally turn up and some turn up and log on to facebook. The future is scary indeed!

    Yes.

I was on a bus going through Tooting the other day, which (sorry to say) is now like a Third World area (used to be quite nice a decade or so ago).

How on Earth did we come to such a situation?

I don't know when Tooting was ever nice! I remember someone I knew who lived there getting mugged there 15 years ago - it was never exactly posh.

I actually thought that was an exaggerated stereotype. Now I know, after seeing the first clip.

Like most places in London rich and poor people live side by side. This means if you are fine if you don't annoy someone but are in trouble if you do.

And unfortunately you may just annoy someone by just existing.

Like the grandfather who got beaten up outside a mosque with his granddaughter because he was in the wrong place in the wrong time or the school girl whose house got burned down with her family inside due to damaging the pride of a former lover.

Oh and in Kingston-Upon-Thames there was that mother who was killed after she got of a bus.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
