Why won't Royal Mail leave parcels with neighbour?

The problem with posties trying to help out is that the vast majority of people in the UK live in highly populated areas. My usual posties is very good, apart from never bothering with getting sigs for recorded items, anod recently not even special items! However I live in Greater London, my road is a walk throuigh to a very popular school, I can't even put pretty plant pots outside as they would get stolen. Thereofre the idea of leaving something for me by my front door is a non starter and I would be making complaints to the highest authorities if I come home and find a parcel has been left .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I work 9-5 during the week and also have a seperate weekend job so I tend to address parcels for either my work or my mum's house as our local sorting office is only open till 1pm and is 6 miles away so I wouldn't ever be able to collect a parcel from them.
My postie's lovely (and VERY handsome too
lol) and used to leave parcels at my weekend work if I wasn't in, but now he can't do that as they were getting into trouble for doing it!
As an avid ebayer I think the best thing I ever did was add my work and mum's addresses to ebay & paypal!.•

I've had a lockable Parcel Box on the side of the porch for months now. Works well, even the postie says it's a good thing!0

As someone who regularly campaigns in elections and has delivered more than my fair share of leaflets for our candidates, I'd say those boxes are also a godsend too. No more having to post leaflets through doors with small, aggressive dogs behind them and worrying about your fingers getting ripped off..."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Its really laid back where I live, and safe, so I got a parcel I was expecting (its my birthday Monday) left round the back. Suited me fine.0

I leave a bucket outside, and the postie just leaves my parcels underneath it. Stops them getting wet as well

Our postie usually takes things to the delivery office, which I don't mind as it's not too far away anyway.
One ebay seller got my house number wrong, but because my postie knows who I am, he still delivered it to me instead of the wrong house. I sent a polite notice to the seller asking them to be more careful in future though, as other ebay buyers might not be so lucky to have such a good postie.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £10,153.440
