    "NLA Steven Hilton August 12, 2010 | 2:16 pm

Just so readers are aware, the NLA e-mailed over 500 NLA members within a 20 mile radius of Brighton yesterday.

We’re trying to rally around and find the landlord somewhere to live."

it is a LL association and not a tenant association..... - what else would you have expected ?

Isnt that the point that isbeing made though Clutton?

The NLA could have made it very clear this is an unacceptable and unlawful way to behave that brings discredit to the members?

They could have also not publicised the fact that they had emailed other landlords.

In publicising that they are practically supporting Butler, this brings discredit to all LLs as a whole, as they are publicly "siding with her".

Ive no issue at all with the LL community being emailed about this but to publicly state it- I think brings the NLa into a level of disrepute.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Lynz... please dont put words inot others mouths when you say

""In publicising that they are practically supporting Butler"

NLA is not going to comment until all the facts are in the public arena.. they dont believe in judge and jury and hangman till all the evidence is available....

    neither should we have ......

we still only have Ms Butlers side of this story.. and until we have both sides.. none of us know what the real issues were.....

NLA did not publish it "at large" they published it on a landlord law blog... not in the tabloids.....

Landlordlaw is as accessible as any website, is it not?

What do you think that NLA were trying to achieve by stating that they were emailing all LLs in the area? ( if not to show that they offered her practical support?)

NLA and RLA etc etc support landlords.. not tenants... she had nowhere to live.... (for whatever reason) why shouldn't they help her find a roof for her and her family ?

She had NOT been charged with any offence, nor found guilty (other than by trial-by-media)

I have no issue as I said with them doing it. but it is my opinion is that it has discredited the NLA (not LLs, just the NLA)

    Scapegoating landlords

In recent weeks/months this forum seems to be taking an utter delight in finding prolonging stories (sometimes beyond all reason) about a tiny number of landlords who are behaving badly.

There seems to be almost a sense of gleeful hysteria… “” lets find another one…. Lets REALLY have a got at this person - lets Really investigate this person and threaten them with exposure of personal details not only of them but their families also”

    ...
I don’t see why this vendetta against landlords should continue…..

Perhaps we need to draw breath and stop being so “goaded” into over-the-top comments

I have started this thread to ask for some restraint…..

No doubt some will find this post offensive …. That’s forums for you

clutton, I doubt anyone will find your post offensive but many will find it pointless and a little puzzling.

I don't really understand why if you disliked these threads you didn't just choose not to read them?

You may have found them unhelpful but if they are being posted and added to here, presumably others do find them interesting and relevant.

I have personally suffered from an appalling landlord - reading these types of threads (not that I'd read the specific ones you referred to) are extremely useful both practically and psychologically for tenants going through similar experiences - these threads point up what our legal rights are - which many (most?) tenants are not fully aware of - and give us comfort that we are not alone.

If these threads are useful for others on a consumer-focused website, then frankly it is none of your business to demand that they be removed.

If you don't like them, DON'T READ THEM.

i have never demanded anything on here carolt... i am not that sort of person...

nor have i asked for any threads to be removed..

this is what i said in my original post -

""Perhaps we need to draw breath and stop being so “goaded” into over-the-top comments

its when people dont listen/read each others viewpoints carefully enough that mis-understanding starts off from an altogether wrong foot.... and before we know it .. confrontation exists.....

As Lynz suggest, missing the point. My bolding: Clutton must be an avid GMTV viewer or Argus reader who saw that story as the truth, the whole truth.....

:rotfl: Oh the irony, the irony of that statement.............

Nope - the "trial by media" was endured by the T, Ms Nobre, apparently at Ms Butler's behest...

Perhaps Clutton condones such behaviour from a LL , if the T has a valid tenancy agreement but is in arrears?

Clutton is *so* right - she extrapolates justified criticism of a small number of LLs ,whose actions leave much to be desired, to mean that *all* LL are being criticised (ie misunderstands other's viewpoints) and then confronts other posters with phrases such as
I don’t see why this vendetta against landlords should continue
    Paranoia? More irony?...
