Okay, so who has taken the bait and gone onto the 3 Network for the IPhone 4 , if you have please can you share your thoughts as I would like an Iphone and 3 have the best prices. I am currently with O2 and am very happy with them, however they will not budge on their current tariff even when I threatened to leave, and with all the horrorshow reviews about 3 any current thoughts would be greatly appreciated...:money:

Ok never had a iphone but will say this.
the recption yes is patchy and will vary with the kit your using in my time i have had 2 £20 pay as you go phones ,a nokia e 63 and a sony x 10 oh and a mobile dongle. All used for skype and voice calls
The singnal was better with the sony and the nokia ,I would reckon a i phone would fall into this bracket .
Yes the cs is not great but i had a issue with a voucher which i had brought in bristol over 30 miles away and they resloved it without me going back , so swings and roundabouts .
Do you know anybody elese on 3 either on broband or mobile it would give an idea on signal strength etc

If you call having the best and biggest 3g network coverage of all the Uk networks and backed up with 2g coverage fron orange then yes they are awful with rubbish network coverage :rotfl:

The cusromer services can be crap but they get the job done, and lets be honest which network has great customer services?

I'm in the same boat, want to get an Iphone, and the Three network offers the best deal for me.

I have a Three mobile broadband dongle which I've been using for just over a year. I've probably used it in about 10 different locations around the UK, some in cities, some rural locations.
There has only been one location where there was no service, but looking at the other networks, they too have no 3G in that location.
Other than that the service worked perfectly well, with very good speeds.

The mobile broadband dongles only work on 3G, but with an iphone, if there was no service, my understanding is it would switch to the Orange network. So although you wouldn't get fast internet speeds, voice calls etc would work fine.

People I know who have got their phones on Three have said to me they've had no problems with coverage or reception.

As for the customer service I can't comment.

Had my iPhone4 on Three for a few months now and loving it, had no problems to be honest.

Get your iPhone by all means, but DONT tie yourself to a contract. This way if the networks is carp, you can switch with no problems, AND stay in control. The phone might be slightly cheaper on contract, but the downside is far greater.
  • I've been with 3 for 5 years now (never had an iPhone tho). Their customer call centres are in India, which is a bit annoying sometimes as their operators can be quite hard to understand but they are generally very helpful. However, I've found the network coverage to be excellent.

I think this is going to end up being a minor "blip" in their service. Orange and T-Mobile are merging their networks starting with the 2G. They are also part of a plan, with Three, to boost the network to take on 4G and are also extending their network sharing to include 3G next year.

Three are decomissioning some of their cell sites, but these will be replaced by shared ones in the future. That doesn't help you now, but next year there should be a massive improvement in coverage for Three, Orange and T-Mobile.
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.
