Primus...is this a good deal pls help

hi i have my line with BT, calls thru primus, free eve and weekend but im making more calls thur day now due to change in circumstances so rang them for some options

they said free calls all the time for £8.49 per mth

another offer is bband AND unlimited calls for £23.48 per mth, with £15 refunded every 3 mths and then 3 lots of £23.48 refunded at the end of the 12mths

which works out £12.61 per mth. at mo i pay ntl £9.99 on a student deal but its due to run out soon

should i go for the primus deal? i think it sounds good bt dont get all the cashback stuff

  • Do you use https://www.call1899.co.uk ?

Calls at any time to 01/02 numbers using a BT line are 0p per minute with a 3p connection charge so you can stay on the phone for as long as you like for 3p.

That way you are not paying for "free" calls that you may never make every month even when away from home.
  • Hi I've been with primus for about 3months now ,On the wholw with no probs. The cashback is credited back to your account there fore every 3 months you will get a very low bill . I have a 2mb connection and it is unlimited ans i use p2p as well . The customer service is on a 0800 number . The only down side is the staff are not as tecie as they acould be . on the whole i'd rate them well

I have asked Primus to refer me back to BT as I have ben having problem with them for 3 months.
Basically on my bill there are numerous premium calls , lasting anything from 30s to 1min, which I have no recollection of.They reckon it is from internet connections. With BT I have any premium numbers barred to minimise such problem.Primus do not have this facility.
As I say I do not have any recollection of any such calls and have asked Primus to refund my calls which they have refused.Hence I have decided to move back to BT as I am not making any saving even though I did receive the rebate after 3 months.
Any idea what else I could do????

try tapping the numbers into saynoto0870 web site , that might tell you what company the numbers are for

Two things, are you on dial up as this could be a trojan dialer or do you have an Amstrad emailer telephone as they also make calls to check email.

As mentioned by Edinburghlass, the most common are trojan dialler taken over your dial-up settings on your computer/laptop. This would only be the case if you used dial-up or if you're on broadband but still have your phoneline directly plugged into a dial-up modem.

BT would still insist you made the call so moving back to BT I don't think would help except for the premium rate call barring. Primus are cheaper for geographical calls (those beginning 01 or 02) than BT so you would save money with Primus. Calls to numbers beginning 08x and 09x may be the same as BT or slightly dearer than BT when made from Primus. Calls to 077, 078 & 079 (mobiles) can vary but maybe slightly cheaper on Primus depending on time of day, etc.

Another alternative is an Orchid Dialler box which amongst the ability to route calls to different providers depending on type of call and time of day, it can also be used to block calls as well. More info here.

Try ICSTIS Number Check which will most likely give you an idea of what the number is being used for.

Sky has a pretty comprehensive parental options and one of them is to prompt for passcode before going online. This, I assume, would stop your kids going on the games.
