Do you need to sugar soap a dresser before painting it.
Also I've read on here about using zinster or something like that, when would you use that, is it on pine?
You should really sugar soap all furniture as it really helps remove years of old polish and gunk. I'm often surprised at the colour the cloth turns! You might use waterbased Zinsser primer/ Blackfriars or Ronseal Problem Solving primer if you don't want to sand or strip (perhaps the old paint may contain lead?) or if you don't want to use chalk paint as it improves adhesion, or if you have waxed or untreated pine as you'll need to seal those knots. If you don't they may appear back through your paint, some years down the line. These primers are also great if you have tanins or dyes bleeding from the old wood into your paint, or any other stains.0 -
Had a break from painting as back bad.
I have painted all the furniture in my craft room - Cool Grey. Before it was various shades of brown.
I was thinking of painting my two horn pieces but not at all sure. They do match each other and are expensive items to mess up. What do you think?

No! I wish I was though. That's in Cheriton near Folkestone. Also had a poke around Dover yesterday and bought a tiny cupboard to paint. House is nearing bursting point!0

Been away from MSE recently. I've done a few shabby chic projects recently though but with a crochet hook.

All lovely - particularly like the tea cosy and the 'cake' is really clever!0
