Thanks for the Plaster of Paris help. I looked in Wickes yesterday for doweling - for rods in Roman blinds. A chap in there told me to use a wardrobe rod for the bottom weight bar. What do you think?

Thanks for the kind comments on the dresser. Unfortunately after the waxing it started to show up brush marks and a little of the underneath colour.

Should I leave it or go over it? It's not everywhere and I suppose will be less noticeable when all my junk is on it. Stupid wax, it was perfect prior to that.

if you are going to sandpaper it to distress it - leave it. I had this happen so many times I always do two coats of chalk paint now, and sometimes a few dabs here & there too. It's quicker the 2nd time.

    My second afternoon project complete:

I have something very similar to this which I have been holding off on painting as I could see it being really awkward getting between the slats and I could end up just slopping paint all over it and getting a bad finish. Did you use a roller or a brush and how did you get such a neat look but cover all the slats please?

Well the dresser is very close to being finished but I can't seem to make a decision on what handles/knobs to have for the doors and drawers. I've had a look on fleabay but wasn't overly impressed. Can anyone recommend anywhere online that doesn't cost a fortune.

we have a cream leather suit in our living room a three and two seater, the three is worse for wear now but the two is fine and i did think when i replace the suit this year tipping the three and moving the two into the sun room and recovering a winged chair i have upstairs and bring it down to go with the leather settee.

but then i thought for now should i paint this which is in my sun room at the moment

    sunroom_furniture.jpg

would it paint in AS original
if i painted it would it go with the seat covers which are a pale gold, with creams and greens as i cannot face reupholstering those i don't mind making new cushions though

has anyone done one of these if so photos please or should i just leave it and wait till i can move my leather settee and winged chair in here.

    Today's project:

I'm chuffed cos I mixed my own colour for this one as I couldn't quite find the colour I wanted (and I would have had to part with actual money to get something I wasn't happy with!)
