While shopping today - I saw 1829 paint. I think it was chalky emulsion - can someone tell me anything about it please?Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Its by Craig & Rose which is similar to Farrow and Ball Emulsion paint. They have some amazing colours based on different colours through the ages and cultures. The finish is a chalky matt I think, maybe not as chalky as Annie Sloan.
Ive been thinking of getting some testers of it and trying a few small pieces with it.
What are you thinking of doing with it?0 -
Just want to add, I dont think specific for furniture like Annie Sloan is but I know some people have used emulsion with a wax or varnish over the top with success.0

ukmaggie45 wrote: »Wow Kate, those hangers are just lovely - look so cheerful and jolly! :j I showed your photo to OH and even he thought they looked fun!!! (he's not usually into crafty stuff so that was really amazing!) They would make lovely presents, I know I'd be chuffed to get hangers that looked that nice. I do have a bit of a hanger fetish having spent most of my life making do with those wire ones that came free with dry cleaning!
I've got stuff to make padded hangers, but no time to do them at the mo - we're still trying to empty old home of stuff so we can put it on the market, plus we've also had this CRUD flu type virus so are hacking coughing all over the place at the mo... Not conducive to crafting!
The decoupaged ones were quick and cheap. They are basically these hangers from Ikea - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80217374/
covered with Primark wrapping paper which is £1 for a roll about 6m long! The trick to decoupage is the cheaper and thinner the paper, the better. I did 6 in a couple of hours, though they are a bit fiddly until you get the hang of it. I've got loads of left over wrapping paper from various craft projects so I might just do the the entire wardrobe.

Just need some time but I find that I look at lots of things around the house now and wonder if they would look better painted chalk white. LOL.
Almost everything in my house is painted white. It ties everything together, old and modern and various styles.

Love the cabinet and hangers!
Does anyone else get that initial feeling of "oh what am I doing" as the undercoat hits the wood.....almost a guilty pleasure.
I'm currently attacking my welsh dresser, it's looking lovely so far."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
