I had loads of the blue floral paper left over from my chair so have decided to decoupage some boring old wooden hangers.

Basically, if I can stick paper to it, I will!

I, too am amazed how much paint can transform furniture. So much cheaper than replacing too!
I got all giddy and unecessary today. Was at Sainsburys doing recycling and Air Ambulance collection guy was there to pick up stuff. Amid the haul he was picking up was a sewing basket (funnily enough had been inspired to look for one by a certain someone on here *g*) and a plant stand that had a distinctly Arts and Crafts look to it. Arts and Crafts/Art Deco being some of my fave things. I was very cheeky and asked if I could perhaps buy them from him there and then for a donation and he agreed! I skipped all the way home! *g*

Sorry - a little large. Oak stand is, I think destined to be Aubesson Blue although I am very tempted to see what the wood is like when sanded down and then consider using the vinegar/wire wool treatment on it. Too many choices!

Wow Kate, those hangers are just lovely - look so cheerful and jolly! :j I showed your photo to OH and even he thought they looked fun!!! (he's not usually into crafty stuff so that was really amazing!) They would make lovely presents, I know I'd be chuffed to get hangers that looked that nice. I do have a bit of a hanger fetish having spent most of my life making do with those wire ones that came free with dry cleaning! :o

I've got stuff to make padded hangers, but no time to do them at the mo - we're still trying to empty old home of stuff so we can put it on the market, plus we've also had this CRUD flu type virus so are hacking coughing all over the place at the mo... Not conducive to crafting!

Whitesatin - really marvellous transformation there. I thought that waxing preserved the paint - don't know if I am right.

Thanks, Florenceem. I think, by the sounds of it, the whole thing can be flexible to be honest. Trial and error to an extent too.

I have some mis-matched pine bedroom furniture in my bedroom (meant to be a spare room but hubby likes to read until late so I have made it my haven). Can't justify replacing the furniture (two ebay find M&S bedside tables, an MFI wardrobe left over from when my daughter was a teenager and a huge Ducal Bellamy chest of drawers which I bought with my childminding money in the late 70s) so I will be making that my next project.

Just need some time but I find that I look at lots of things around the house now and wonder if they would look better painted chalk white. LOL.

I went out looking at tiles today for my kitchen/bathroom and cloakroom - saw so many that I think I will dream of floor/wall tiles.
 Such a range and variation in prices.
I went in Laura Ashley - wasn't meant to be buying anything! :o
They had some fabric reduced from £28 metre to £7 metre - at the till - it was reduced to £4.90 metre. :money:

I need to lighten up my house so white painted furniture will help.

Ive tried taking pics but both my phone and camera are rubbish in low light. Will post pic tomorrow.

I didnt wax this time but used Ronseal matt clear varnish and I have to say I prefer this to the Annie Sloan Wax. Anybody else used this over chalk paint?
