I bought a 6 foot high dark brown Ikea dvd/cd rack from fleabay, and at 10.30pm decided to paint it with AScp old white. First coat is on and I'm watching the paint dry now!

:rotfl:looking forward to seeing it, when its done

That is sooo the sort of thing I do. I suddenly get ants in my pants and just up and do odd things at strange times of night!

Am in the process of painting a few things myself at the moment, but friend has camera still so no pics til they're finished. Had to woodworm treat one and I think it may be affecting the paint somewhat, but it's only had one coat so time will tell if it turns out OK or not.

here it is after one coat of ascp. I started to do a second coat last night but it wasn't dry and was lifting the paint. I think laminated type surfaces may take longer than wood. My office is renamed the obstacle course by hubs

Hahaha, that could so easily be any floor in my house at the moment :rotfl:

Your rack is looking good though.

I've got dust sheets down too at the minute as I am painting the rack or a knitting frame for a friend who likes the one I made for myself.
I picked it up at yesterday's car boot so am eager to get cracking on it.

Its just had its second coat of chalk paint (home made though!).

I'm now about to varnish my decoupaged vase and decoupaged hand mirror whilst the sheets are down then I'm jumping in the bath!!!

Whenever I get the house straight, its time for another project!!!!

It was a vase that I wanted to upcycle to hold some burlap (or hessian!) roses in when I get some material, that is!!

I don't know if it's shabby but I really love the quirky and cafty look of it!

ooh! Do you have a pic of the knitting frame? I've no idea what one is but it sounds really intreresting!

I so love looking at everyone's pics; amazing ideas and execution and so inspiring that there are so many people finding talent in themselves!

John Lewis have some knotting frames on reduced to clear they were £25 originally. http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-freida-knitting-frame/p231661999

Here's the one I did before:

It is actually much nicer in the flesh, so to speak. Everything is neatly hand stitched. I love it.

I spent all of yesterday painting the frame of the new project and decoupaging the fabric, etc. So fulfilling.

Im terrible: I won't want to give it away ;) (But I will!)

  • All your activity is putting me to shame. I seem to be acquiring things for projects but not getting the projects done.
Surbybird Thank you for the heads up about the paint. I want to Homebase on my way home yesterday and got 3 or 4 tubs of mixed to order paint - the tester size, for 50p and managed to pick up 2.5L of a paint that will be just enough for my small Bathroom for £4 in a lovely grey/blue called Stormy Skies, so I am a very happy bunny.

I do love the quilts. They show such skill. I am a novice at the Sewing Machine but find hand stitching quite relaxing, if a little hard on the hands. Part of the problem is I don't really have a useable table for the sewing machine to be out on. Think I may start a quilt by hand and finish it when handyman has been to build me a crafting desk and shelves in an alcove in bedroom next month. My little luxury pressie to myself. *g*
