Hello Everyone Long time lurker here.
I've just acquired my first "project piece" having just got lost on Pininterst as per usual! I thought I'd as you all if you have any ideas as to what to do with it!

I know I'd like to wallpaper the back board and use it to display my ornamentals other than that I have no idea! I don't think painting it all white will do it justice and neither will black.
Any thought will be great, Thank you
Cool piece!!!!
That's gonna look either really funky or really sweet spending on your input.
Can't wait to see the finished piece:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

how about a combination of wallpaper and image transfer? The image transfer can look great, and use different colours like this http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/brag-monday-french-graphic-cabinet.html
There's loads of tutorials all over the place about how to do them, just see which one will work best for you.0 -
I'm decorating my DD's room and it's white, hot pink and pink and black zebra print. I'm fancying some words painted in black on the white walls - any ideas where I can get something like that? I thought that I might be able to get a transfer or something? I would paint them myself but am a bit scared!0

Yeah, search for ''Wall quotes'' on ebay. They're self adhesive and there are loads.0 -
Wow! That's stunning. I'm starting one but I've stuffed up on my square size and need 200 squares. Also it's a rag quilt. Has anyone here tried that? You pad it as you go but I will need a further 400 squares doing it that way. You make a sandwich of top, bottom and flannelette innner and it should end up like this:
So 600 squares to be cut! I should've done a bigger square! Doh!
I think I will try one of these rag quilts now I've seen them, I think because you quilt as you go they make it easier to make a big quilt.
What size are you doing how big have you cut your squares please I was thinking 8inches would be a good size for a big quilt0 -
I've done13 cm so I'll have a 10cm square after seam allowances. That's just over 5''. so to get 200cm by 200cm (double size) I need 20 by 20 squares. Your 8'' sounds a lot better!0

That's about 8ft x8ft that's a good size I presume that's allowing for overhang on the sides of the bed and bottom
It's a good job it's a rag quilt you would never get that size in a normal Machine to quilt it:)
That's why the rag quilt lends itself to a big quilt isn't it.
What fabric are you using, cotton or flannel0 -
Loving this thread. Have been lurking for the past few weeks and thought I would say hello! Some fantastic ideas on here and some lovely things.
I am very new to this sort of thing so forgive me if this is a stupid question! I have lots of very cheap furniture from places like Ikea (lots of fake wood - is it called MDF?! :embarasse:embarasse showing my lack of knowledge here). Is it possible to paint this stuff with chalk paint or would it need to sanded down etc?
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. I apologise again if this is perhaps a stupid question!!
I've painted loads of veneered chipboard. I first started using satin gloss over primer, and have a wardrobe, 2 chests, various tables in that. I did virtually no preperation and a few years down the line they are starting to show little chips, and I will chalk paint them when I get around to it! Other mdf I've painted in kitchen cupboard paint (as I got some in 99p stores), that was mainly cd racks and it's holding up very well. The only mdf I can remember painting n ASCP is the end panel of a kitchen wall unit, it still looks fine after a few months and I can't remember actually varnishing it, though I may have. It gets very little wear though.
Chalk paint sticks to anything that doesn't move. I've done ceramic pots, plastic outdoor flower pots, laminate flooring by accident lol, once it's waxed or varnished it seems pretty durable.0 -
Hi, found this thread and forum by pure accident while asking a question ref chalk paints. I have now been reading this and getting loads of great ideas and inspiration. Thanks
I am in the middle of my office workroom make over. I bought two old ikea cabinets from ebay cheap. I have chopped the overhanging top flush so I can but them up together and am in the middle of painting them AS Old white. I had a visit to Ikea a few months ago and they had an office/sewing workroom laid out which I loved but alas no money. Plus I prefer to upcycle. So I am trying to recreate it myself.
This a great forum, will have to go back and read all your comments.0
