    Thanks Cazo1

With your advice my plan is: 2 coats of AS today, sanding and wax tomorrow and then a further coat of wax.

The undercoat and eggshell was really only to obliterate the terracotta and to add a layer of cream to show through the AS Paris Grey- I really don't want the original bits of it to show!

Thanks for your reply- I'll report back with how it goes!

Excitedly runs off to open can of paint................:j

    Lovely colour choices...have fun!

I spotted this EB.. item - it didn't sell - is it suitable for shabby chic?

Yes, but those handle look recessed so you probably would be stuck with them...

0012vg.jpgThis was meant to be before and after but they have all gone higgeldy piggeldy! This was home made chalk paint as an undercoat and emulsion tester pots as a top coat. No sanding before painting.

    Emma k that looks wonderful!

I had a chalk paint day today. I decided to quickly paint a little wine table in AS Provence, as I'd already undercoated it I thought it would be a quick job. Alas and alack, 5 minutes in to it I realised the tin had developed a hole in it and was leaking a lot down the side seam :(

I'd got paint on me, the pine cubby hole unit I was using as a work bench , 3 rolls of xmas wrapping paper that was stored undeneath and loads of tut that was in the cubby. I quickly put my finger over the hole and leaned over for some blue tac, thus spilling even more paint all over the laminate flooring.

Spent the next few hours painting anything not screwed down in Provence to save wasting it, including the pine cubby that had a lot spilled on it. :D

I subscribe to this thread for all the lovely ideas but had to post after reading this, it sounds like something that could only happen to me - I did a very similar think with a pot of blue paint all over a carpet - despite putting a sheet down the paint ran faster than I did, it's nice to know i'm not alone :D
