  • Hi, I hope you don't mind me posting, but over the last week, I've read this thread from start to finish and am totally in awe of some of the pieces you've transformed.

I'm the most "uncrafty" person I know but I've always wanted to have a go at this so I've just started on my own project today. I bought an old pine console table, which I've sanded and started painting with primer. I'm going to paint it with F&B eggshell paint in Bone.

I'd just like to ask a question please. Should I wax it after I've finished or is eggshell paint ok without waxing? Also, could someone please explain to me how you upload your photos to show your "before" and "after" pics?

    Thanks in advance x

Eggshell is fine on its own. It's not porous so waxing wouldn't do anything.
I'll let someone else talk you through the photo uploading because I'm technically challenged and can never remember....:o
  • Thanks for that emma kate. I can't wait till tomorrow to have a go with the topcoat. I'm just trying to decide whether I should paint the inside of the drawer as well. :D

Emma thanks for posting all those tips :T

Here is a corner cupboard that has been given a makeover. Lady next door was throwing it out but asked me first if I wanted it.
Here it is after first having a coat of liquid sandpaper. It's a veneered piece. I then primed it and as I had some Laura Ashley paint left over from another project that's what I used.

Gorgeous Pennib. I wish I had the vision to see how things would look after a makeover but sadly I can't.

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

dizzy; usually how I see it in my head is often not how it turns out!

Emma; she is very generous. She's given my daughter a whole load of bedroom furniture which is brand new and all wood. Her husband didn't like it!! (not for painting tho)

Love how you have done your cabinet Pennib! I have done 2 of those but have taken the top doors off...I really like how you have done it! I have just finished this telephone table & pine bed frame, going to start on two side tables later today, including the one beside the bed!
