Chalk paint is so nice and easy, but it is rustic looking (imo) all my stuff has brush marks, and it kind of self distresses when I wax it! I love the look of waxed paint but if I wasn't painting old pine stuff that had been waxed before I think I'd try emulsion with wax on it.
Emma uses something that might be better than ESP, forget it's name something 123. zinser??0 -
Hi, another one here tempted by Annie Sloan!
If I bought a mahogany nest of tables with the glass inlays, would I just paint this on? Would I need to do anything afterwards? And does the paint go very far as it seems quite expensive (19.50 for 1 litre locally).
Thanks to anyone that can help0 -
If you have a d.i.y shop near you I'm sure ESP (or liquid sandpaper) would be much cheaper than having it delivered.0

Hi, You should always sugar soap your furniture first to make sure it's clean before painting. Then yes, just paint it on! It is a very matt finish and will mark if it's not protected with wax or varnish. It does go a long way and you can add water if it's too cluggy. And you won't need a pack of sandpaper or a can of primer!0 -
bought some more AS CP today and the guy in the shop said to use white spirit to get the wax off the glass on my dresser.
Dresser is half way now, but I'm on to the quickest less fiddly half and no way am I doing the inside of the cupboard! Might do the inside of the 3 doors if I feel inspired.0 -
I just used the UK milk paint from here http://www.heritagecobandlime.com/page6.htm on two items, neither of which I sanded or primed and I was impressed with the adhesion and the primitive antiquey look. It's not dull and flat like chalk paint. And it's £9.50 a litre but do make them tell you what the postage is before they send it! They don't seem geared up to shipping small objects yet!

Oh, that's £11.40 inc VAT0 -
