took a camera photo of some of my tut. Also tried taking out the middle cup to replace the missing one but the candleabra arms fell about ... have sent hubs out to the garage looking at things that might fit a fat screw/bolt for it.

Before. Oak bedside cabinet suffering from a nasty orange wax build up and general brown-ness. (Sorry, I can't turn off the bold.)

Oohh Emma it's amazing how a lick of paint can transform an uninspiring piece of furniture into something lovely.

Chalky...that's one big haul you've got there. Wonder how the candelabra is going to turn out, hope you can find a bit that fits. If your oh shed is like my dh's there will be something in there somewhere!

ooh sorry to hear about the prang, hope you're ok. Someone ran in to the back of us a couple of years ago and the insurance mess was 10 times more gruesome than the accident.

thanks for the pinterest link I'm addicted!

here's a plain black bootfair 50p candelabra I spray painted with green paint from 99p stores last year.

I love your Louis style fire surround. I had that in my last property and I miss it! The ceilings are too low in this house for french elegance sadly. But I did score a real stone one for £30 off ebay...hehe!

That is fab!!!! I love seeing the transformations and the feeling of pride when you stand back and look at what you have done. I'm not fab and if you look too close you'll see that but knowing you have something homemade and usually lot cheaper...it just feels good doesn't it. I'm sat trying to make a little dressing for my kitchen window..not following any pattern in fact enough to say I'm flying by the seat of my pants...lol!

As for Pinterest...well can't you lose yourself for hours?

that fireplace started off looking similar to this
    http://www.diy.com/nav/rooms/fires-surrounds/surrounds-surround-sets/surrounds/-specificproducttype-wood_surrounds/Orleans-Surround-Mahogany-Veneer-9636686
    then it went to this
    photo15p.jpg

it's 6" higher than it was and hubby has now made it 6" deeper all round so it has a nice deep mantelpiece.
But it still isn't finished!!! Thats the undercoat and the feet are covered up by piles of books and tut. And it's standing on a bit of raw mdf. But I did get a nice old iron fender for it from fleabay.

    today
