saw this on Amazon and some prettier ones, and had the idea to shabby my kitchen clock tomorrow ....
it hasn't started well - teabagged the face then discovered it's been waterproofed
edit - painted it's horrible white plastic rim with white acrylic, then later with primrose flex emulsion from a tester pot ( it was very thick). Had already cut the arm off the red second hand so I painted the stump of it gold. Then hung it on the wall to dry. Does not look a million dollars but is definitely better than it was.0 -
I love the drawers, they were nice before being painted too. I bought some dining chairs too although not an Ebay bargain, I got them from Emmaus and because they were a set with a dining table (which we donated back) they were more expensive at £85. Mum paid for them to be recovered for Christmas, I will have to take a photo. I didnt want the shabby chic look so didnt paint them but love what youve done. I almost want to live on my own and have the challenge of furnishing a place with bargains but that is just a bizarre thought lol
Please share if there is anywhere else around there worth looking at ready for our next visit!!0 -
I'm in Bristol, dilovesdiscounts. I agree its a fab place, everyone should check out their local Emmaus. They are run differently to the usual charity shops and the prices can be great. Always the first place we look if we need furniture.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I hadn't heard of them before but there isn't any near me at all - I checked their map. Hopefully one will open as it's a great idea. Do any other charities have just furniture shops? The charity shops near me only have the usual bric a brac.
Thanks0 -
in Kent there's British Heart Foundation and Pilgrims Hospice Furniture shops doing 95% furniture. Dymchurch & Cheriton are good.0

Also Emmaus in Dover, who used to be amazing, haven't been there in a while though. Also BHF (I think) have a furniture outlet in Dover Centre, also there's a charity shop in Whitstable High St thatis worth checking.Put the kettle on.0 -

/\ chipboard
side of kitchen unit
/\ wood screwed over place where 2 kitchen units meet up to hide the join
the magnetic catches are screwed to the side of the kitchen unit inside the dark hole right at the front so the bit of metal on the drawer front touches them.
chalkysoil I've printed the picture off and I can now see how it works. All I need to do now is actually follow the instructions and do it! Thanks again.'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'
