Thanks!
Not bad for £65:D
I think it was called Country Cream, it was from B & Q and was a cooke and Lewis range I am sure. I think it was so massively reduced as it was being discontinued. I am sure they will have introduced something similar though. Sounds like you are making good progress on the ideas, just hard to imagine it all together unless someone has it in their showroom I find. Having sourced all the bits for the kitchen separately, I did feel that I was flying blind for some of the time. Painted walls in eau de nil from the Craig and Rose 1829 range. Was able to pain sides of cupboards etc in paint that matches doors exactly thanks to the clever men and women at the B & Q paint mixing station!
Best of luck, I will follow your progress with interest.

Aw Jackie = thanks love - that makes me feel aot better - dont suppose you have any piccies do you???? I even wondered about getting a few cath kidston wall tiles and some farrow and ball paint for the walls - its especially hard to imagine as the walls have to come down yet - lol
Bexster thank you sooo much for your replies - really kind of you - you painted the sides of your new cabinets?? wow that was brave - did you prime them first - how did it all turn out - was it easy to do?0 -
Yes I did prime them first, having rubbed down with fine grade wire wool and then rubbed again after priming. Colour match was exact thanks to paint mixers who were amazing. Had to take the risk really, base plinths (except under the cooker) and sides of cabinets were a horrible dark teak colour and the new doors would have been ruined by these otherwise. On the pic I posted of the drawers, the top and bottom plinths were the painted teak. It took a while to prepare but I was really pleased with the results.
Thanks danemi, glad you liked it.0 -
Hi, Danemi - why not take a look at Bibbitybob's kitchen makeover.
Thanks hun.
I really wanted a duck egg/pale grey door for our kitchen but they came in at a stupid price (I think cheapest quote was £6k ). In the end we went for the cheapest of cheap cream door from Magnet trade and paid a little bit more for a square edged oak effect laminate (cheaper than real wood, and so much less hassle!). I then put the colour in with the tiles and accessories. There are a few more closer to finished pictures here, but for anyone who can't access it here's one that gives you an idea...
The whole kitchen including appliances and island unit which we made ourselves from a freecycle unit came to just over £2k.0 -
Oh and just to add, oscar your kitchen is gorgeous!0

Oh dear, I seem to have killed the thread! Thought I'd pop on and show you today's makeovers...finally got my little cabinet completed.
I'm still planning to replace the glass with mirrors and use it as a bathroom cabinet, but it's just sitting pretty on my work desk at the moment! Excuse the rubbish photo and awful wallpaper...we've not reached the office yet!
I picked up these canvases from the boot sale back in April - I loved the edges but not the pictures so stuck some cork tiles on and turned them into pin boards for my office.0 -
that cabinet is truly bootiful and I like what you have done with it - your corkboards look ggggreat too!0

Wow that's a brilliant job with the cabinet Bibbitybob.
Have been reading this thread a while and really getting inspiration from you all.0 -
Hi everyone
I had some help from you all in May when I posted some questions about painting a table I had found in our loft. Since then I have been busy with the paint brush! I have posted some pictures of what I've been up to and wanted to say thanks to everyone for the advice you gave me!

I am still working on the dining table and will post pics when it's done. I am also reupholstering the chairs that came with it (another first for me!)
I have another question. Does anyone use stain to age painted wood? I found some clips on you tube where people were painting stain on a surface and then rubbing it off with a cloth. The residue left the item looking aged. I wondered what type of stain is used?
