maman, that's exactly the suggestion I was going to make! I've picked up so many rolls of paper for £1.50 from our local LA store. I did the chimney breast at my old flat in one and it looked lovely. We were lucky enough to get two with the same batch number for the spare room, I'm dying to get it up but there's so much more important things to do first!

I love the idea of white walls (and I'd keep the wardrobes white too, personally) with a huge mirror propped against the wall. I do think that a really strong, big pattern can look great in a small room as long as it's on a single wall - we've got a fabulous black damask design with a pearly cream background for our box room feature wall and I'm planning white french style furniture with it.

Thanks for that Bibbitybob. As weather is so miserable here, I might go off to LA's this afternoon and see what I can find. It'll help to look at things 'in the flesh' rather than just browse the website.

I wasn't planning to paint the wardrobes in a new colour, it's just that I think I'd prefer them in Satinwood. For the white walls, would you go for brilliant white or some sort of hint?

I'd love an ornate mirror but I think I might have to buy something plain and paint the frame to match walls/paintwork. Anyone seen huge mirrors around anywhere?

Sorry for all the questions but the posters on here are such a mine of information.:D

I'd go for a white satinwood or eggshell too - I love painted funiture!

I have picked up all of the mirrors in my house at bootsales/ebay. If you check out what is available for pick up locally (use lobay.co.uk) then you will probably get a large mirror for £10 or less secondhand. Be sure to remove the mirror from the frame before painting. So much easier and cleanervthan using tape and scraping round the edges. ;)

I've been to LA and, while nothing suitable in the odds & ends bin, all wallpaper is currently at half price!

This is the Tatton Jaquard in either the linen or black. I know the black is striking but I'm tempted by the linen. The photo's not very good but the background is almost a pale gold. Fabric is also available so I could do some cushions and/or cover a chair seat.

Thanks for the ideas about mirrors. I'll get searching!

Ive just come back from my local homebase and they had quite a bit of FB paint reduced - 750 ml eggshell for 10.99 and also an extra 10% off this weekend, so could be worth a look in your local....

Thanks! Is there still a CB in Hope? We went to a fab one there a couple of years ago...not sure if you're nearby or not?

How funny! The black is the one we have for our box room :) it's so different to what we've got in the rest of the house (various pics on my blog) but I love it, it's so striking and I think will look great with white painted furniture.

Are your wardrobe doors gloss then? I do prefer an eggshell finish so I see what you mean :)

I picked up this little cabinet for £1.50 from the boot sale this morning! I've already given it one coat of paint and it's going to go in my bathroom. I'm torn between using it for display or getting some mirror glass put in and using it above the sink.

i love that but me personally would donate it to my craft area would be great for storing my beads lol

I found this in a CS :D I have been after one for ages :D
    IMG_1915.jpg?t=1310330259
I made this for my mum's birthday, the top heart is where she was born, the middle where she lived when she had me and my 2 sisters and the last where she is now :D
I love theses style of frames, some I paint, like this one, some I leave natural :D
The maps I buy as cheap as I can get but the middle one I had to get off ebay , only a £1 but it was a 1963 map so I had it photocopied as I didn't want to cut a small heart out of it :o
