Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning  We've had a busy week - 2 days at work, then long day looking round Loughborough Uni with DD. She really liked the department, bit would like to go somewhere bigger. I'm sure she'll make the right decision once she's seen all the places she likes
I have a day home alone, so I'm going to have a run, then get all my jobs done this morning. I'm out to have tea and cake with some friends this afternoon, including one who's back for a few weeks from Australia :T
I'll probably have some time to myself this evening, or DS and I will watch the Great British Bakeoff, so will try and sew.
For tea, I'm going to make Yorkshire puddings with leftover roast pork, veg and HM gravy
I need to bake, too - lemon drizzle or coffe cake?
Have a great Old Style day everyone :T

Morning all,
Don't want to put a dampener on a crisp Friday morning but I feeling ever so poorly.Been awake all night in pain with these darn gallstones. A week today I am due to see my consultant and believe me when I say it couldn't come a minute sooner.
Am feeling ever so sick, dizzy, flushed and generally very poorly. Im at the point of wanting to be sick just to feel better. The pains been constant for over 12 hours now. _pale_
I have been really bad all week had a chat with NHS direct earlier in the week who told me to rest and take pain relief but it is not making any difference anymore. Had a chat with my mum and although I hate the idea of wasting their time she has convinced me that going to A&E has to be done.
She is going to get herself organised and then come with me at 7.
Please I would appreciate any prayers that they will do something not sure how much more of this I can take.
The rest of the day will depend on how this goes. I am sorry for putting such a negative post up but I really need to keep myself occupied until mum is ready.

Shy Sarah - thinking of you - and crossing my fingers for you xx
DS1 was off school yesterday - and now I have what he has - just a heavy cold. He perked up remarkably quickly though, so I've told him he has to go today. Have washing to go out, BM on, DW on. OH to turf out of bed, along with DS2. The sheep are fighting in the field next door. Will employ child labour tonight and get the boys to make pizza for tea! They have to start somewhere - DS2 is almost 5 and his class are being taught how to make toast!!! Hugs for those in needMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Morning all,
Shysarah, hope all goes well at the hospital, please let us know how you get on xxxx
Morning all,
Looks like a nice day here, althought its chilly, I did a heavy wash last night, jeans and hoodies etc , so I will shove those on the line before work.
DD is off to Thorpe park for the day tomorrow with the school, so she is staying at her mates tonight who lives closer to the school, so Its just OH and I for dinner, think I might do meatballs and spaghetti, nice and eay.
Work for me, but finish early, so not too bad, then home and take the dog over the fields for her walk.
Soup for lunch, with one slice of bread, weighed myself yesterday and have now lost 18lb, so its still coming off, but very slowly now.
Ok better get on, have good days all xx
Edited to say, sistercas I feel your pain with the snoring xxxx0 -
Good Morning
(((Shysarah))) don't feel bad about posting, hope you get some better painkillers and feel better soon.
Its Friday again :j
Have had a busy week. Today will be getting as much housework and officework done before head out to meet a friend for lunch at a local pub. 2 courses for a fiver and its lovely food. As I will be training for the next 8 weeks  thought would get a quick lunch in before.
Ironing is up straight, house needs a quick lick over so hopefully shouldn't take me too long. Will be nice if I can have a tidy house so can have a relaxing weekend.
Not sure what is for dinner tonight, will be some kind of fish probably salmon.
Off now for another cuppa - have a great day.x0 -
Hi all, I used to post on here but have got caught up a bit with DFW, as you can see it's nearly gone so I thought I'd pop over to say hello!
OS wise today, well, not much TBH, I really need to pick some elderberries and damsons to make a crumble base as the elderberries are almost over but I'm out at a "briefing day" (Groooaaan) all day and a dinner night tonight (even bigger groan) so it will have to wait one more day. Alongside this I have left my long dress at DH's flat where he works and at some point need to get a chest x ray that I have been putting off for a week as I haven;t been able to get to the hospital, not OS at all!!
Loving catching up with the OSers though as it was how I was brought up and how I want to live the rest of my life.
PS-Does anyone know where I can get a rag rugging tool? Are they any good? Would pliers do the same job?0 -
Monrning folks,
Hugs to you SHySarah, hope all goes well. It is bright and very breezy here today - to the point that its blooming cold. Its too early to put the heating on, but if the wind doesnt move round from the north east it may just be going on temporary tonight! Not much going on today, going to DD1's for tea tonight so wont have any worries on cooking today. OH has hurt his back, and with getting new windows in this week, he is not able to put back up the curtain rails, so I have had to contact a local handyman to came and do it - hopefully he wont be too expensive but I cant stand another day let alone weekend without curtains - nosey neighbours!!! Will have a busy day at work, so hopefully it will pass quick - its not a great place to be but I should be very thankful it is secure and well paid. I am going to overhaul all the finances and actually put down in black and white what we owe to everyone rather than have a mental note and focus on using money saved to clear these rather than just cutting back and not using any savings purposefully - IYKWIM.
Have a good day, away to make lunch - corned beef and pickle sandwich with a yogurt today,
SuzyEvery days a School day!0 -
Morning all
Clear, bright but nippy here, so will take a chance and put the washing on the line. Friday again already where do the weeks go?
Was reasonably productive yesterday managed to get housework done, changed our bed and washing and ironing done, have just looked in the basket and it's half full again, how does that happen? Dinner last night was chicken and rice hotpot - smelt lovely but not that wonderful - so it was eaten, but won't be making it again. Tonights dinner I have no idea, so will organise that whilst I'm doing the food shopping later. Have a load to put out and can then get another in the WM, will be heading out shortly to the bank, scales, and food shopping. We're going away again just for tomorrow night so will need to pack a bag, but left quite a bit in the caravan so won't take a minute.
Did DS2's secondary school application on line last night - so that's a job to cross off the list. Menu plan and shopping list done, would like to get some baking/cooking done today so next week is organised with sweet treats etc and we'll have some to take away. Have to admit I've put the gas fire on this morning, just to warm the lounge up a bit, it's forecast to be really cold tonight, brhhh, autumn really is here!
Have a great Friday everyone and a nice weekend.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
