    In my case....rent is lower...

It doesn't matter what the rent costs, it's not going to suddenly stop and therefore people have to keep on working to keep on paying it. As you said before: "Imagine working every hour God sends just to keep a roof over your head." People do, in order to pay the rent, all the time.

i could buy now so im not sure where you get retirement age from?

I was referring to the rest of society that pretend to be more than happy renting until they drop.

In order to make it worth your while watching your savings depreciate in value while you pay out a five figure sum in rent every year I assume you've either recently won the lottery or are fibbing?

I am told that in West Wales now the only offers being put in are 20% below asking price and there is a flood of second home owners from St. Davids to Swansea depserate to sell up.
This is not financial nor legal nor property advice. Consult a paid professional if in doubt.

    You've been told correct.

Prices are falling all over wales (and most of the UK for that matter).

    It's great news

The asking prices are still way over the top though. Seems to be a gap forming between those dropping their asking prices and those who are seemingly refusing to do so.

Someone once assured me that an elderly, rotund and slightly drunken gentleman managed to navigate and ascend the well used and very narrow chimney flue in the middle of the night, fully laden with a sack of free gifts to place on the floor, for no real reason, and then disappear without a word.

Halifax index states prices are rising btw.

An estate agent once told me a 74 yr lease was "plenty", so I don't really know what to think of this.

Ayone serious about selling will have to lower their price to the new market value.

If they don't, they won't sell.

And if they don't care and "sit it out" they weren't really on the market in the first place..
