An estate agent told me the market is falling.

not that it tells you much but the agent i've always used in the past has started to contact me about buying again.
either there isn't enough buyers out there and they need more viewings or he's just finding out how i'm keeping...
I get the impression its quite quiet. They have been following up a lot but at the end of the day you can only offer what you can offer.
If we were going to go up to what the vendors want then there are some other houses at that level I'd look at first.0 -

Then what? Who keeps a roof over your head then?
At least if you buy a place you can give up work at some point, or at least cut your hours so you can enjoy you life.
I never understood the 'I'm happy renting for the rest of my life' argument.
In my case....rent is lower...i could buy now so im not sure where you get retirement age from? No point in me buying now as prices are atill falling.0 -

relax sunshine - it's only an internet forum. you're taking yourself a bit too seriously now...More nonsense from you.
You haven't a clue about my circumstances so stop making yourself look a muppet.
I could quite easily start the process of buying now but why should i when prices are still falling?
i'm sure you could buy... but it's not us you have to try to impress, we're not interested...

If the market is falling in my area then a house recently sold on the market for 110k (sold 105k) would have to drop to sell at 92-95k to be inline with house prices (sales) from 5 years ago. This is based on what my hose sold for 5 years ago and what is being asked for houses the same as that. My house was is very good condition too so it wasnt sold 'cheap' due to condition. This is a like for like comparison fo house type/condition BUT is the situation I am aware of, not relying on stats which most of us knwo can be used to prove anything.
I am not going to argue the with the 'house prices are falling' brigade, but for them to fall significantly in my area they would have to be selling for alot less than asking and I cant see that happening tbh.YNWA
