Sweetie not "I want to come" but "I am coming" or better still just turn up. Only you can judge but why would Stepdad say anything if not worried?

Toughie..but I'd go anyway. See your stepdad etc too.. But maybe in a week or 2s time and cover it with a work excuse.

This attitude makes me think she really is ill tbh

Sorry that you have all of this worry NL.

I have to admit that my instinct would be to go anyway whether covering tracks as Mrs B suggested, or after the most recent call just because you want to. That way you know in your heart of hearts that you have gone to see her and tried to help . Perhaps she really does want you to go, but is pretending that she doesnt and trying to put on a brave face so as not to worry you. This comes from someone who refuses help and tells people she is fine and doesnt need them when really deep down I do. :o

Obviously we don't know your mum so its easy for me to say all of this, but if it were my mum I would be inclined to cash in the air miles and go anyway and suffer the consequences.

    Take Care xx

Hello everyone and thanks for all your input and advice. She has decided to come here "for a change of scenery" which actually I think will be better because then if I have to work my househelper will keep and eye over her and she also loves cuddling with the dogs which I have heard is therapeutic.

Just catching up; while reading the comments above I thought - surely it would be better if Mom comes to London [get her right away from her depressing home situation] - and look:

..Much much better idea. :) Check she's insured to the top of her head, NL [just in case] and fingers xxxed Mom doesn't back out before the flight leaves (can you rely on step-Dad's support in this?).

Hope OH is in agreement about Mom coming over, as your household is probably in for a full-on few weeks, NL. You will, of course, have all of us as a safety valve if your feelings become too intense at times.. :)

When is Mom due to arrive?

yes she has loads of insurance. Stepdad seems ok and OH being very supportive.

I am trying to get my diet back on track today, yesterday and Monday when I cocked up at work were total write offs.

Doing washing and hanging it indoors, and later will help my friend with her business and earn £20 which will be nice.

If she has any work for me tomorrow I will do that too.

Does anyone know if it is a free listing ebay weekend?

    xx
