TGIF and I really mean it, I am so happy it is Friday.
Aside from the crap week I have had, my stepfather just called and told me that he thiks I should go over because he is worried my mom is in a clinical depression and might harm herself. I know things aren't great but for him to get up at 5am in America to call me is very worrying.
If I go and just turn up, my mom will be very angry at me, and if I ask her she will tell me she is ok and not to come (I think.)
When I was small my mom had a nervous breakdown and was in hospital for about 6 months. Obviously I don't know all the details because I was 7 and my dad and granny have now passed so I can't ask them about it, but it sounds like she might need that again.
I don't know how I am going to work today. So very upset.

Oh NL thats carp and worrying. Can you take some leave and cash in some airmiles and pop over..perhaps suggesting to your mum that youre popping in only as you were in the US for a conference or something..so it doesn't look like you have made a special effort?
Personally I suspect that if you don't do something and the worst happens you will feel much much worse. Some of this is for you..rather than just her..iyswim

How worrying for you. Mrs B has come up with a good idea there. It would seem like you just popped in and you could see your mom for yourself then. This is the sort of time when you don't have to be strictly mse, mom's are more important than pennies.
Love to you NL

Honey just go, adopt the frankly brilliant idea of Mrs B to "cover your tracks" and go give your Mum a hug. Heck even use the its Mom Day in the UK excuse of necessary
